CAO Address

CAO Bourke presented Wendy Bosch’s City Council Resignation Letter for information.

Deputy Mayor and Committee appointments March 2025 – October 2025

Council approved the Deputy Mayor and Committee appointments for March - October 2025, as presented.

Grant Recommendations

Council approved the funding allocations as outlined in Appendix A. This includes the grants for Pursuit of Excellence, Arts & Culture and Sport Hosting.

City Council highlights for the meeting held February 10, 2025

Cool Aid Society 

AmandaBeret Gerber, spoke as a delegate on behalf of the Cool Aid Society, and provided an update and background on the Society. 

Council approved $30,000 in funding for Cool Aid Society from the Housing and Community Development Operational Budget. Council directed Administration to work with Cool Aid Society to identify a sustainable operating model beyond June 2025.

City Council highlights for the meeting held January 27, 2025

Bylaw C-1365E- Utility Bylaw Amendment

Council passed Bylaw C-1365E - Utility Bylaw Amendment to include proposed rate changes and emergency water provisions.

Appointment of Returning Officer

Council appointed Kim Pinnock as Returning Officer for the 2025 Municipal Election.

Combative Sports Public Members 

Council appointed Robin Mo and John Rudyk to the Combative Sports Commission for a term ending December 31, 2025.

2024 Audit Service Plan 

Council received the 2024 Audit Service Plan for information from MNP LLP.

City Council highlights for the meeting held on January 13, 2025

Corporate Sponsorship Recommendation for 7 Over 70 Celebration

Council approved $10,000 in sponsorship towards the 7 Over 70 Celebration event, hosted by the Northwestern Alberta Foundation. The event awards seven nominated seniors who have made a lasting impact in the community.

Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-191

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1260-191, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw. The amendment adds “Parking Lot or Building” to the Industrial General District. 

Mayor Statement on Passing of the Honorable Gordon Graydon

On behalf of City Council, I extend our condolences to the friends, family and community upon news of the passing of the Honorable Gordon Graydon.

With an impressive 18 years on City Council first as an Alderman and then as Mayor from 1992-2001, Mr. Graydon made an indelible mark on the community. It is through his efforts and championing of Grande Prairie that Muskoseepi Park was developed and exists today as a cherished landmark and gathering place.

City Council Highlights for the meeting held on December 16, 2024

Delegations

Ken Drysdale presented as a delegate on behalf of Maskwa Medical Centre. Council directed Administration to work with the delegate to waive fees for the Maskwa Medical Centre's non-profit areas.

Waldemar Schaefer presented regarding property taxes. Council declined the request made by the delegate. 

Recreation & Culture Cost Sharing Agreement 

Council approved the Recreation and Culture Cost Sharing Agreement with the County of Grande Prairie as presented.
