The South Bear Creek Disc Golf Course is Grande Prairie's second 18-hole course. The course begins by the south ball diamonds and winds up and down hills and in and out of the woods before emerging back to the ball diamonds to finish on hole 18's island rock circle. It was designed to be a tournament-level course to give the disc golfers of Grande Prairie a more challenging track on which to develop their competitive skills.
There are two sets of tees for each hole of the course. The blue tees are for advanced and professional disc golfers while the shorter red tees are for beginner or intermediate disc golfers. Tees are currently marked by either a red or blue paving stone set in the ground. Permanent tee-signs and tee-pads are being developed beginning in the summer of 2019. In the absence of tee-signs, the best ways to navigate the course are to download the app UDisc and find the course or ask a Grande Prairie Disc Golf Club member to show you around.

Blue – 6700 feet
Blue tees are for advanced players who can throw over 300 feet.
Red – 5400 feet
Red tees are for beginners or amateurs.
Play Safely
This course is in a public park frequented by walkers, bikers, and baseball players. Many of the holes play over or around paths and baseball fields. Disc golfers must always wait for others to move out of range before throwing.
Play at Own Risk
Some holes are in the woods where hazards such as fallen logs and thorny underbrush are common. Also, many years ago this park space was a landfill, resulting in the possibility of metal and other waste appearing at the surface. Always watch your step. Dangerous animals such as bears or moose are sometimes known to enter the park.
Respect the environment
Please pack all garbage out or dispose of it in the garbage located on the road between holes 4, 5, and 17. Do not break branches or knock down trees. In the woods be gentle with sensitive undergrowth such as moss or wildflowers.
If you are brand new to the sport and want to try it out, head to the Muskoseepi Park Pavilion where you can borrow discs. The other disc golf course is better suited to brand new players and is located at Thrill Hill in the Swanavon area.
