South Peace Regional Archives

The goal of the South Peace Regional Archives (SPRA) is to gather, preserve, and share records of Alberta’s South Peace River region. These records come in various forms, including textual records, paper artifacts, photographs, maps, sound recordings, and film. The Archives processes and preserves historical records that have been donated to prolong their lifespan. They provide reference services and access to the records in the Archives’ collections through their public reading room (by appointment) and website.

The SPRA provides outreach events and services, including a quarterly magazine, guided tours, and archival exhibits shared throughout the community. They support Reconciliation work and the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Descriptions of records, as well as a selection of digitized documents, photographs, audio recordings, and film and video recordings from their holdings, are available through Alberta On Record, the provincial archival database, and their YouTube channel.

The South Peace Regional Archives is located in the Lower Level of Centre 2000.
