Sidewalk Rehabilitation

Grande Prairie’s Annual Sidewalk Improvement Program focuses on enhancing pedestrian infrastructure across the city. The program includes replacing outdated sidewalks, installing new curbs and gutters, and conducting asphalt patching, landscaping, and minor driveway repairs. These improvements are part of the city's efforts to enhance pedestrian mobility, promote safer routes, and support active transportation options, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and caring community.

Trail Rehabilitation

There are three types of upgrades or changes to pedestrian links, commonly referred to as sidewalks, trails, and pathways.

  • Maintenance - treating sections of sidewalk, trail, or path to eliminate safety hazards
  • Reconstruction - replacement of significant portions of concrete sidewalk or trail
  • Removal - removing a portion of sidewalk, trail, or path that is no longer required to connect pedestrians from one area to another
