An individual who intends to be nominated or has been nominated to run for election in the City as a candidate must give written notice to the City.

When a notice of intent is received and confirmed to be complete by the Returning Officer, the City will post the candidates name here in accordance with section 147.221 of the Local Authorities Election Act. 

Note: A candidate who has not submitted their notice of intent cannot accept a contribution or incur a campaign expense in accordance with section 147.22 of the Local Authorities Election Act.

Candidates may be nominated beginning January 1, 2029, as indicated in section 25(2) of the Local Authorities Election Act.

After the Returning Officer verifies and accepts the candidate's nomination papers, the information provided by the candidates for the offices of Mayor and Councillor on their submitted Consent to Disclosure Form will be added to the appropriate list below.
