Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership (GPLIP)
Welcome
The Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership (GPLIP) works to make our community welcoming and inclusive for immigrants and refugees.
We bring together community organizations, service providers, employers, government, and immigrants to improve newcomer settlement and integration in Grande Prairie.
GPLIP is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and hosted by the City of Grande Prairie.
Our vision
A community where immigrants and refugees feel welcomed, included, and empowered to succeed.
What we do
GPLIP does not provide direct settlement services. Instead, we work at the community level to:
- Improve coordination of newcomer services.
- Support employers and workforce inclusion.
- Advocate for local immigration needs.
- Share research and community data .
- Promote equity, diversity, and anti-racism.
- Ensure immigrant voices shape local planning.
How GPLIP works
GPLIP operates through two leadership groups:
- GPLIP Council
- Community leaders and organizations from different sectors work together to guide strategy and collaboration.
- Immigrant Advisory Table (IAT)
- A group of immigrants who share lived experiences and provide advice to improve local services and policies. This ensures community voices are part of decision making.
