Transit Impacts
Transit routes and stops may be impacted due to various reasons. Please use the following resources for updates and information when planning your trip:
- Log into the On Demand app at gpmyride.app.ridewithvia.com to schedule your rides.
- Utilize the "Where’s My Ride" Bus Tracker feature for real-time bus locations.
- Contact 311 for assistance in planning your trip.

Road Closure Details:
Each Saturday during market season, 101 Street between 101 Avenue and 102 Avenue closes to all vehicle traffic starting at 7 a.m. The street reopens by 3:45 p.m. Eastbound and westbound traffic will continue to flow on 101 Avenue and 102 Avenue.Transit Impacts:
During the road closure, the following Route 8 transit stops are temporarily closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.:- Stop 802 (north side of 100 Avenue in front of Midwest Furniture):
Route 8 will not stop here on Saturdays until 4 p.m. Other routes servicing this stop are not affected. - Stop 804 (east side of 101 Street, just north of the market):
This stop is closed Saturdays until 4 p.m. Please use Stop 806, located at 103 Avenue and 101 Street.
- Stop 802 (north side of 100 Avenue in front of Midwest Furniture):
Route 3 will be impacted in the coming weeks. Currently, only minor delays are expected, and no stop closures are planned. Some stops may be temporarily relocated as the work advances.
Tips for Using Transit
The following tips on bus travel will make your trip go more smoothly
- Please keep all large articles out of the aisle and have strollers or walkers folded or out of the aisle so others can pass safely.
- For your safety, please do not engage the operator in unnecessary conversation while the bus is in motion.
- To avoid potential injury, please do not chase after the bus once it has left the curb.
- Move on back’ and keep the front seats free for seniors and those with less mobility.
- Make room for everyone by only taking up one seat per person
- Keep conversations respectful of others, including cell phone conversations.
- For everyone’s comfort, earphones are to be used when using any listening device.
- No open food or beverages are allowed on the bus.
- Have your SUPERPASS or cash (in coins only) ready when boarding. The drivers do not provide change.
- Please step out of the shelter or off the bench as the bus approaches so you can be seen by the driver.
- All of Grande Prairie Transit buses are equipped with bike racks.
- Abusive or inappropriate behaviour or language towards other passengers or our staff will not be tolerated and riding privileges may be suspended.
Transit FAQ's
Service starts at 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. on weekends.
Service ends at 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, and 6:15 pm on Sunday, dependent on the route.
- Transfers are a ticket that allow you to switch from one bus to another without paying an additional fare.
- Transfers are valid for 120 minutes.
- Transfers are FREE on GP Transit.
- When boarding the bus, ask the bus driver for a transfer.
Yes. Just scan your transfer as you enter the bus. Transfers are still only valid for 120 minutes after issue.
- Persons showing either Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) National card can ride for free, companion will have to pay the appropriate transit fare.
- Children ages 6 to 17 ride free with a valid SUPERPASS
- Children ages 5 and under ride free when accompanied by a paying adult passenger, to a maximum of 4 children per adult.
Transit drivers will lower the bus, extend the ramp, and lift the seat. You will have to manoeuvre your own chair to the accessible seating area. The Transit driver will then assist in securing the belt and assist you with securing your chair. If you require extra assistance we advise you to travel with a companion
Only small fur-bearing and feathered pets contained in secure, clean, hand-held cages are permitted on the bus. Cages must be small enough to fit on the owner's lap. Passengers must hold on to their cages at all times. The cage should not block the aisle or restrict other passengers. Certified service animals are welcome on transit buses. The driver may refuse a trip if your pet poses a health or safety risk, or if it misbehaves.
Lost something on the bus? Phone 780-538-0300 and provide the date, time, route number and description of the lost article. We will do our best to find any lost articles and help you get your lost property back.
If you find someone else’s property on the bus, please give it to the bus driver. We will do our best to return lost items to their rightful owners.

The Transit Office is located in the City Service Centre at 9505 - 112 Street, which is on Route 3 in the Richmond Industrial Park.
