On behalf of City Council, I extend our condolences to the friends, family and community upon news of the passing of the Honorable Gordon Graydon.

With an impressive 18 years on City Council first as an Alderman and then as Mayor from 1992-2001, Mr. Graydon made an indelible mark on the community. It is through his efforts and championing of Grande Prairie that Muskoseepi Park was developed and exists today as a cherished landmark and gathering place.

Following his tenure on City Council, Mr. Graydon continued to represent and advocate for our community and region as the Member of Legislative Assembly for Grande Prairie-Wapiti from 2001-2008. He served as Alberta’s last Gaming Minister during this time. We’re thankful for his leadership and impact.

Mr. Graydon was a thoughtful leader, dedicated to serving his community, and providing an example for others in public service. Our thoughts are with everyone carrying on his legacy.

Flags at all City facilities are lowered to half mast until Saturday, December 21 in his honor.
