Future Road Construction 

Council approved $325,000 in funding from Council’s Strategic Initiatives Fund to expand the scope of the 2025 budget item for plans and studies to include the preliminary design for the upgrade of 132 Avenue from 103 Street to 116 Street, and the upgrade of 116 Street from north city limit to south city limit.

Naming Dedication - Rotary Ave in Eastlink Centre 

Council approved the naming of the first-floor corridor at the Eastlink Centre, as Rotary Ave., through a Naming Dedication. The Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie have played a pivotal role in supporting community initiatives, including their generous contribution to the Eastlink Centre’s capital fundraising campaign. Recognizing their involvement through the Naming Dedication aligns with the City’s commitment to fostering community partnerships.

Amendments to Policy 315 - Community Group Funding 

Council approved amendments to Policy 315, Community Group Funding, as presented. The amendments align funding timelines and frameworks for efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Policy 361- Community Enhancement Fund

Council approved Policy 361 – the Community Enhancement Fund with amendments. Establishing a Community Enhancement Fund is a fiscally responsible way to ensure continued investment in the aesthetics of the city’s public spaces by having predetermined funding source and parameters on types of qualifying projects.

Policy 362 - Council Strategic Initiatives Fund 

Council approved Policy 362 - Council Strategic Initiatives Fund. Establishing a policy to outline the appropriate use of Council’s Strategic Initiatives Fund ensures transparency, as well as appropriate use of the funds.

Amendment to Policy 346 - Reserve Policy 

Council approved amendments to Policy 346 – Reserve Funds, as presented and rescinded Policy 214 – Public Art, to fold the Public Art Reserve into the Community Enhancement Fund.

Rural Renewal Stream Pause 

Council approved pausing the acceptance of Rural Renewal Stream applications as of February 25, 2025; and directed Administration to bring back a report in Q2 2025 on the status of the Rural Renewal Stream identifying opportunities and challenges for the continuation of the program.

Proposed Recreation Facility Update

Council approved the location for the proposed recreation facility at Trader Ridge.

Council directed Administration to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the design, engineering and construction of an air-supported structure to accommodate a FIFA regulation-size soccer field, with flexibility for various sports activities.

Council further directed Administration to purchase the Facility Site, subject to the terms and conditions of an offer to purchase, for a total cost of $2,384,904 and amend the 2025 Capital Plan to reflect the land acquisition, funded through Public Reserve and Council Strategic Initiatives. 

The proposed recreation facility at Trader Ridge will address growing demand for indoor turf space and accommodate soccer, football, rugby and other field sports. The facility will support sport tourism and economic development, providing a shovel-ready, cost-effective solution.

Royal Oaks North Outline Plan Bylaw C-1482 and Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260- 195

Council passed Royal Oaks North Outline Plan Bylaw C-1482 and Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260- 195 and rescinded the Royal Oaks north Outline Plan OP-07-03.

Kensington Area Structure Plan, Kensington Outline Plan, and Land Use Bylaw Amendments 

Council passed Bylaw C-1442A, being an amendment to the Kensington Area Structure Plan; Bylaw C-1344H, being an amendment to the Kensington Outline Plan; and Bylaw C-1260-194, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw.

Residential Snow Removal

Council directed Administration to initiate a round of Residential Snow Removal.
