Neighbourhood Associations are registered societies that provide a central point of contact and a unified voice for the community. They provide a sense of place and belonging for residents through education and communication while creating the framework to advocate for community needs and to support various community initiatives.

Some benefits of forming a Neighbourhood Association include:

  1. Being Incorporated as a Registered Society which allows the association to get insurance and liability coverage, enter into legal contracts, own property and have the ability to fundraise and apply for grants.
  2. The ability to advocate on behalf of your neighbours for community needs, support neighbourhood initiatives, bring neighbours together to accomplish common goals and strengthen communication between your neighbourhood and the City of Grande Prairie.
  3. A Neighbourhood Association represents all residents, business owners and property owners within a neighbourhood’s boundaries at no cost, and provides opportunities for individuals to get involved in a variety of ways including serving on the Board of Directors or volunteering in support of neighbourhood projects or events.
