The community sandbox program was introduced following the City’s 2022 Snow and Ice Service Review, where residents shared feedback and ideas during public town halls. One of the key themes from that engagement was the need for easier access to traction materials, leading to the creation of the free community sandbox to support accessibility and safer winter travel for everyone.
- How it works: Residents may visit the community sandbox and take up to two, five-gallon buckets of sand per person for personal use.
- Location: In front of the City Service Centre (9505 112 Street), near the south end of 112 Street.
