The City of Grande Prairie is reminding the public of the following community facilities that are staying open over Canada Day for residents to enjoy a cool place to escape the heat as forecasted temperatures remain high:

The Eastlink Centre is re-opening to the community on Monday, June 14 in alignment with Stage 2 of Alberta's Open for Summer Plan.

Effective Sunday, December 13 the City of Grande Prairie is temporarily closing its recreation and cultural facilities for a minimum of four weeks to comply with the latest provincial health regulations and keep the community safe and healthy.

The City of Grande Prairie is excited to welcome new concession vendors to two of its major community recreation facilities.

Cindy’s Pantry is now offering a homestyle cooking menu at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion, including soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, baked goods and daily specials. All sandwiches and burgers are served on fresh bread or buns made daily. Both dine-in and take-out options are available as well as catering services.

Grande Prairie is proud to be announced as a tour stop for the 2020-2021 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season schedule.

The City will be hosting the KIOTI Tractor Tour Challenge from November 3 to 8, 2020 at the Coca-Cola Centre.

“Hosting the KIOTI Tractor Tour Challenge and being part of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling for the 2020-2021 season is a huge opportunity for our community, and we are immensely proud to be selected as part of the tour,” says Catherine Ridgeway, Events and Entertainment Manager.

The City of Grande Prairie invites members of the community to join in on the free New Horizon Co-op Family Day event at the Eastlink Centre and Coca-Cola Centre on Sunday, February 16.

The Eastlink Centre will have free admission from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., including classes and two-hour swim blocks in the pool. The New Horizon Co-op Kids Zone is located in the fieldhouse where guests can enjoy games and activities, a souvenir photobooth, face painting, crafts and more to keep the family entertained. Refreshments and snacks are provided from New Horizon Co-Op.

Starting Wednesday, residents can expect some minor traffic delays around the city as well as limited availability at the Eastlink Centre due to the Alberta Summer Games.

Torch Relay

Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m., the Torch Relay takes place with families from Grande Prairie and area carrying the torch from Evergreen Park to Muskoseepi Park.
