Alberta Municipalities Endorses the City of Grande Prairie’s Resolution on Electricity Distribution and Transmission Rates

Grande Prairie City Council presented a resolution on electricity distribution and transmission rates which was seconded by the Town of Drumheller at the Alberta Municipalities conference last week.

The resolution asked members to collectively lobby the Province to eliminate the disparity in electricity pricing for transmission and distribution charges across the province. The resolution passed with 88% of members supporting it.

Council’s Interfaith Breakfast Returns on October 4

Grande Prairie City Council is inviting the community to Council’s Interfaith Breakfast for the first time since 2019.

The event brings together residents and faith leaders from across religious backgrounds to gather, build community, and hear from a speaker.

The event occurs on October 4 at 7 a.m. at Teresa Sargent Hall and tickets are available online for $20 at the Bonnetts Energy Centre Box Office.

Mayor Clayton Statement in Response to Verbal Abuse Against Deputy Prime Minister

 

I want to address the disgusting display of hatred and abuse we witnessed yesterday. The confrontation at City Hall captured on video does not reflect the welcoming spirit our region is known for. We do not need to agree on every issue to treat each other with basic respect.  

As Mayor, I have the opportunity to meet with politicians of all political stripes. I always appreciate the opportunities our democracy gives me to have constructive conversations with others, even those who hold opposing views.
