Delegations

Three delegations presented to City Council.

  • Karen Gilkyson from Tiny Hands of Hope provided an update on the Blossoming Garden of Hope construction, logo, and opening. Council received the report for information.
  • Courtney Roy from the Special Olympics presented alongside local representatives requesting support in a bid to host the Special Olympics in Grande Prairie. City Council directed administration to work with local Special Olympics organizers to create a bid package.
  • Cheryl Kimble from the MOZART Mission presented to City Council seeking funding for additional, specialized cancer screening equipment. Council allocated $25,000 from the City Council Strategic Initiatives Fund.

Healthcare Retention and Attraction Advocacy

City Council directed Mayor to lead the City's advocacy efforts related to medical retention and attraction to our community, as well as write any necessary letters to support this.

Community Group Funding

City Council approved grants to community groups from the Sport Hosting Grant Funding in the amounts of:

  • Grande Prairie Aquarians Swim Club - $5,000
  • Swan City Football Club - $5,000
  • Grande Prairie Filipino Basketball League - $2,000
  • Grande Prairie Fastball Association - $5,000.

Opioid Response Framework Endorsement

City Council endorsed the Grande Prairie Community Opioid Response Framework.

Correspondence

City Council received for information, correspondence from the Grande Spirit Foundation regarding a revised bylaw to better align with provincial requirements.
