Mobile Skate Park Now Open

The City of Grande Prairie’s new mobile skate park is now open to the public, currently located at the Hillside neighbourhood rink beside Hillside school.

The mobile skate park features portable skate equipment for beginner to intermediate level recreational skateboarding, BMX, scooters, or in-line skating. 

The equipment will be used in outdoor spaces on a rotational basis throughout the community during the summer months. For the winter months, the equipment can be moved indoors for scheduled use in the activity centre.

Local Museums Hosting Free Events for International Museum Day

The Grande Prairie Museum, Heritage Discovery Centre, Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum and Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre invite all members of the community to join in free events and activities on Sunday, August 29 to commemorate International Museum Day.

Each facility is featuring free admission and activities from 10: a.m. – 5: 00 p.m. Free shuttle service is available between all locations with service every 40 minutes.

City Seeking Community Input on Heritage Day Theme for Celebrations on July 31

The City of Grande Prairie invites the community to join in celebrating Heritage Day with a variety of activities taking place between the Grande Prairie Museum and Muskoseepi Park on Saturday, July 31.

The event feature historical demonstrations and performances, a live art contest, live music, food trucks and a virtual scavenger hunt.

Ahead of the event, the community is invited to participate in choosing this year’s Heritage Day theme. The choices are:

Muskoseepi and South Bear Creek Parks Offering Free Weekend Events Over the Summer

UPDATE as of 4:30 p.m., Thursday, June 24: The Exploring Nature with A Wilder Calm event scheduled for Saturday, June 26 has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 10 due to inclement weather in the forecast


The City of Grande Prairie is introducing new programming for the summer with Saturdays at South Bear Creek Park and Sundays in the Park at Muskoseepi Park to provide fun and unique opportunities to enjoy park and recreation amenities in the community over the season.

Muskoseepi Park Seeking Vendors for Pop-Up in the Park

Small businesses have a new opportunity to sell their goods in Muskoseepi Park at Pop-Up in the Park happening this summer.

A small, outdoor market is being set up at the park along the path between the senior playground and outdoor pool for vendors to sell clothing, crafts, jewellery, or any other homemade product, except for food and alcohol.

Time slots are available from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Applicants must possess a business license or be an approved non-profit.

The City of Grande Prairie invites the community to enjoy Canada Day with a variety of in-person and virtual events planned for 2021 including two live concerts, dual aerial fireworks, and a scavenger hunt.

All residents are encouraged to join in and show their Canadian pride with these free and fun festivities.

Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool Opening Household Bookings Starting May 22

The Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool is opening for the season with family household bookings in alignment with current provincial health orders starting on Saturday, May 22.

The pool will be open 7 days a week from 11:00 a.m.- 8:45 p.m. with 1 hour bookings available for $122.30.

Timeslots will be available to start booking at cityofgp.com/outdoorpool starting on Tuesday, May 18 at 8:30 a.m.

Survey Open for Community Feedback on New Bike Skills Park Design

A survey is now available for community members to share their feedback and ideas on the new bike skills park being designed for Crystal Lake Park.

The survey is hosted by the consultant, Cabin Resource Management, and available at the project page on engage.cityofgp.com. It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open until Tuesday, May 4.

The survey is comprised of three parts:
