Community Invited to New ‘Experience Grande Prairie’ Event

The City of Grande Prairie is introducing a new event called “Experience Grande Prairie” to celebrate different projects and places in the community.

Each day of the event takes place at different times and on streets in downtown Grande Prairie on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27.

This year the event focuses on Grande Prairie’s City Centre, allowing residents to visit and explore downtown while attending the fun and free event.

Sundays in the Park Returning to Muskoseepi Park This August

The City of Grande Prairie is thrilled to announce the return of the Sundays in the Park programming featuring various fun activities for the community to enjoy at Muskoseepi Park in August.

All events are organized with local community groups, are free to attend and family-friendly. Pre-registration may be required depending on the activity.

Different events for Sundays in the Park include:

Free Drop-in Available For Activity and Reception Centre Grand Opening April 10

The City of Grande Prairie welcomes everyone in the community to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Activity and Reception Centre.

The event takes place Sunday, April 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Activity and Reception Centre located at 9401 Park Road.

A ribbon-cutting is taking place at 1:15 p.m. with Mayor and Council to officially open the facility, followed by free public drop-in.

The drop-in provides use of space and equipment for the following activities:

Community Invited to City’s Easter Eggstravaganza on April 16

Hop over and register for the City’s 19th annual Easter Eggstravaganza Event at Heritage Village!

Festivities take place April 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in 30-minute time slots. The cost of the event is $5 per child, and free for adults.

Time slots designed for participants who benefit from a quieter and calmer environment are available in the morning and afternoon. To ensure this event is inclusive and accessible for all families, activities may be adapted to reduce sensory strain.

City Offering New Sport Hosting Grant

Registered non-profits hosting sporting events can now apply to receive up to $5,000 from the City of Grande Prairie’s new Sport Hosting Grant.

The fund was created to support and encourage local organizations to hold various sporting events in the community.

The new Sport Hosting Grant aims to encourage organizations to host events that bring more visitors to Grande Prairie, and better support the significant positive economic, social and health benefits on the community from sport tourism.

Activity and Reception Centre Now Open

The City of Grande Prairie is pleased to announce the new Activity and Reception Centre is now officially open to the public.

The new recreational facility located in the Smith subdivision is designed to serve many recreational and leisure needs in the community, particularly for activities that have limited opportunity to play at other venues and to promote youth  drop-in opportunities. Additionally, it will serve as a reception centre for City response to a large-scale emergency or disaster, that may impact residents of Grande Prairie and the region.

Ernie Radbourne Pavilion Extending Hours Over the Holidays

From December 13 – January 9, the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park is extending their hours to allow more people to enjoy the recreational amenities during the holiday season.

The new hours will see the facility open 10:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, and 12:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The hours have been extended to allow greater opportunity to enjoy the outdoor recreation options including skating on the pond, snowshoe rentals, and other activities in the park.
