Seasonal Gravel Road Bans Lifted

All gravel road bans within the City of Grande Prairie have been lifted.

The City thanks residents and commuters who abided by the gravel road bans and aided in protecting the integrity of our gravel road network.

Original News Release 

The City of Grande Prairie begins gravel road bans at 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, restricting travel on all gravel roads within City limits.

All gravel roads will be at 75 per cent axle weight between the hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Parking Bans on Permanent Snow Routes Begin Wednesday

The City of Grande Prairie has announced parking bans on permanent snow routes starting Wednesday, March 1.

The parking ban restricts parking on permanent snow routes (priority 1 and 2 routes) from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Parking bans come into effect to ensure safe access to roadways during snow removal operations.

Residents are asked to remove parked vehicles from priority 1 and 2 roads. A map of priority routes is available for viewing on the City website.

City Launches Tracking Map for Residential Snow Clearing

The City of Grande Prairie has developed a residential snow clearing tracking map to show the progress of snow clearing crews, increase accuracy of information provided to residents and enhance transparency.

The Residential Snow Clearing Tracking Map helps residents of the City of Grande Prairie stay informed about the progress of residential snow clearing crews, providing real-time updates every 30 minutes and historical information.

Residential snow clearing begins when declared by the City with consideration of snow accumulations and upcoming weather conditions. Current snowfall has led to conditions where a round of residential snow clearing is warranted.

City Offering Free Community Sandbox to Aid in Maintenance of Residential Sidewalks

The City of Grande Prairie is pleased to announce the availability of a free community sandbox for residents to use during winter months to increase traction and help keep residential sidewalks safe and accessible.

The community sandbox is available at all hours at the City Service Centre (9505 112 Street) near the south end of 112 Street. Residents are welcome to take up to two, five-gallon buckets of sand per person for their personal use.

Residential Snow Clearing Begins Wednesday

A round of residential snow removal begins Wednesday, November 9.

Residential snow clearing begins when declared by the City with consideration of snow accumulations and upcoming weather conditions. Current snowfall and freezing weather have led to conditions where a round of residential snow clearing is warranted.

Residential snow clearing occurs in two-week rotations when declared and is completed by contracted snow removal crews from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
