City of Grande Prairie Providing Free Shuttle Service to Grande Prairie Stompede

The City of Grande Prairie is offering complimentary shuttle service to and from the Grande Prairie Stompede grounds May 27-29.  

The shuttle service is scheduled to leave from the west side transit stop at the Town Centre Mall to the Stompede grounds at Evergreen Park on the top of the hour. Return trips leave from Evergreen Park to the Town Centre on the half hour.

Hours of operation of the shuttle are as follows:

City Installing New Accessible Heated Transit Shelter at Eastlink Centre

Phase one of construction to create a new accessible heated transit shelter in the west parking lot at the Eastlink Centre has commenced.

The two-step build starts with the transit shelter construction, which is expected to be completed by the end of March. Once the shelter is complete, crews will begin setting the shelter up for heat, which will take more time as it requires upgrading the electrical infrastructure.

Grande Prairie Accessible Transit Customer Appreciation Events

Registered Grande Prairie Accessible Transit (GPAT) customers have the opportunity to receive a free round-trip, museum entry and a guided tour to the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum.

These events are taking place every Saturday and Sunday from March 12 to April 3. Registered GPAT clients can sign up with their bus driver or by calling dispatch at 780-830-7433.

Transit Route 4 Bus Stop Temporary Closures on 97 Avenue and 108 Street

Starting Thursday, January 27 Transit route 4 is experiencing delays  due to unexpected Aquatera work on 97 Avenue and 108 Street.

The following stops along route 4 are temporarily closed:

  • Stop 464
  • Stop 468
  • Stop 470

A temporary bus stop has been added at the corner of 106A Street and West Side Drive to help passengers navigate the closures. Bus stop 460 is also still available for passengers to use.

Temporary Transit Routes Serving New Hospital and Activity and Reception Centre Starting December 4

Starting Saturday December 4, two new temporary transit routes are being implemented to provide service to the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and the Activity and Reception Centre.

Route 11 provides service to Grande Prairie Regional College, the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, Prairie Mall, southbound along 100th Street and the Towne Centre Mall.

Route 12 provides service to the new Activity and Reception Centre (opening in the new year), Cobblestone/Crystal Heights, Prairie Mall, QE II Hospital and the Towne Centre Mall.

Council Approves Transit Redesign

City Council approved the newly redesigned transit routes and schedules at the Council meeting held Tuesday, September 7.

The new routes and schedules proposed have been designed to enhance connectivity and provide improved service to meet the needs of our growing City. The redevelopment is underway to match the growth and technological developments in the City so we can deliver better transit services to our residents with increasing efficiency.

Community Consultation Opens on Transit Redesign to Improve Connections Across the City

Transit is on the move this year to better connect riders around Grande Prairie.

The new routes and schedules being proposed have been designed to enhance connectivity and provide improved service to meet the needs of our growing City. The re-development is underway to match the growth and technological developments in the City so we can deliver better transit services to our residents with increasing efficiency.

Opportunity is currently available for riders and community members to provide feedback on the proposed redesign.

Transit Services Adjusting Daytime Hours, Adding On-Demand Evening Hours

Effective Monday, April 13 transit service hours are being adjusted to support the City of Grande Prairie’s continued commitment to the health, safety and well-being of the community and our employees.

To improve social distancing, we ask that people use public transit only for essential travel such as medical appointments, work and grocery shopping.
