Celebrate Heritage Day at Muskoseepi Park on August 2

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – August 1, 2025) – The City of Grande Prairie invites residents and visitors to come together in celebration of Grande Prairie’s history, traditions and community spirit at the City’s annual Heritage Day event on Saturday, August 2 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Museum’s Heritage Village.

Put the kettle on: Teatime traditions return to Reverend Forbes Homestead

The City of Grande Prairie invites residents and visitors to enjoy a timeless tradition at one of the city’s most cherished heritage sites. Afternoon tea at the Reverend Forbes Homestead returns this July and August, offering a unique opportunity to experience local history, treats and the warmth of a historic gathering place.

Teas take place at 2 p.m. on the following days:

Easter Eggstravaganza tickets on sale March 19

The City of Grande Prairie is hopping into some Easter fun on Saturday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Museum’s Heritage Village.

Families are encouraged to purchase tickets for their preferred timeslot starting at 8:30 a.m. on March 19 at cityofgp.com/easter. Tickets are available for $8 per child and free for adults accompanying for a half hour time slot.  Tickets must be pre-booked, as the event sells out annually due to high demand.

Folktales Tour makes haunting return October 18 and 19

The Folktales Tour returns to the Grande Prairie Museum’s Heritage Village October 18 and 19 with an extra scary flare. The event is a guided outdoor evening walking tour featuring historical and newly added fictional stories to make the occasion more chilling than ever before. 

Stories for this year’s Folktales Tours were chosen in collaboration with the City, South Peace Regional Archives and the Disturbing the Peace podcast. 

Heritage Village Folktales Tour returns October 13 & 14

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – September 18, 2023) – Heritage Village Folktales Tour is coming back to the Grande Prairie Museum on October 13 and 14 for another year of stories ranging from eerie to curious.

Residents are invited to register for the guided outdoor evening walking tour featuring stories about local history with both fact and fictional elements. An archivist from the South Peace Regional Archives is also on site after the tour with newspapers and other documents to highlight the factual elements of the Folktale Tour stories.
