(Grande Prairie, Alta. – September 18, 2023) – Heritage Village Folktales Tour is coming back to the Grande Prairie Museum on October 13 and 14 for another year of stories ranging from eerie to curious.

Residents are invited to register for the guided outdoor evening walking tour featuring stories about local history with both fact and fictional elements. An archivist from the South Peace Regional Archives is also on site after the tour with newspapers and other documents to highlight the factual elements of the Folktale Tour stories.

“The Folktales Tour is a fun way to get a taste of local history during the spookiest month of the year,” said Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “This event also allows the City to maintain a strong relationship with our community partner, the South Peace Regional Archives.”

Tours last one hour and 15 minutes each and take place primarily outdoors. Dates and start times for the Heritage Village Folktales Tour are:

  • Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 14 at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available online on the Folktales Tour event listing at cityofgp.com/programs for $25 per person.

Visitors are reminded to dress weather appropriate as the event is mostly outdoors. The recommended age to attend this event is 16 and older.
