Road Rehabilitation on 108 Street Between 92 Avenue and 84 Avenue Begins Wednesday, September 9

Update, September 30, 2020: The road closure on this project has been extended due to unforeseen underground utility conflicts. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank residents for their patience. The original overall project completion date of mid-October is correct.

Wapiti Gravel Suppliers is anticipated to begin road rehabilitation work on 108 Street on Wednesday, September 9, weather permitting.

Capital Infrastructure Upgrades Continue Throughout the City

The City of Grande Prairie Continues to invest in the City’s road network, with the road rehabilitation program and the traffic signal inspections program continuing next week.

Asphalt Overlay on 99 Avenue Between 105 Street and 96 Street

An asphalt overlay takes place on 99 Avenue between 105 Street and 96 Street, starting on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, weather permitting.

City Repaving Bear Creek Bridges on 108 Street Starting Monday, August 24

Both north and southbound lanes of the Bear Creek bridges on 108 Street are scheduled to be repaved starting Monday, August 24.

Work includes milling and repaving of the bridge decks, concrete repairs, and guardrail work.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in both directions for the duration of construction, minor delays are expected.

Drivers are reminded to drive with caution, watch for workers in the area, and obey all posted signage and speed limit reductions.

Construction is anticipated to be complete by mid-September.

City Sidewalk Improvements Program Continues in Additional Neighbourhoods

The City of Grande Prairie’s sidewalk improvement program continues in the neighbourhoods of Highland Park and Smith.

Highland Park – Beginning on Thursday, August 6, contracted crews will be removing and replacing the existing sidewalk on the north side of 91A Avenue between 97 Street and 96A Street with a wider, 1.5 metre, sidewalk.

City Sidewalk Improvements Begin on Wednesday, July 15

The City of Grande Prairie’s 2020 Sidewalk Program is scheduled to begin throughout the city on Wednesday. Existing sidewalks will be removed and replaced with new, wider sidewalks.

Swanavon – On Wednesday, July 15 Wapiti Gravel Suppliers will begin replacing sidewalks on 101 Street between 89 Avenue and 88 Avenue. Local traffic will be maintained during construction, with some impacts to parking as equipment and construction materials are in the area.

Muskoseepi Park Pathway Closed Near Mission Heights Neighbourhood

Update: July 16, 2020:

The Muskoseepi Park trail north of 68 Avenue near Mission Heights is open to the public.

Trail users are advised to stay on the trail and exercise caution in the area between 68 Ave and 72 Avenue, as natural water movements may cause creek bank movement.

The City of Grande Prairie continues to monitor and assess the area. There is no concern for nearby homes. We thank residents for their continued caution when accessing this portion of the Muskoseepi Trail system.  

City Repaving Key Section of Regional Transportation Network on 100 Avenue Between Airport and 108 Street

Capital investments in Grande Prairie continue with the City beginning a road repaving and traffic-flow improving project in the city’s west end on June 24.

On 100 Avenue between 124 Street and 108 Street crews will replace the existing asphalt, remove and reinstall curb and gutter, and complete line painting and landscaping. A free-flow lane is also being constructed on 100 Avenue between 116 Street and 115 Street.
