Pathways to Education session helps residents plan for school, work and future opportunities

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – December 11, 2025) – The City of Grande Prairie invites community members to a Pathways to Education Community Learning Session that shares information about local education, funding and skills development resources. The free, in-person session takes place Wednesday, December 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Northwestern Polytechnic. 

City introduces Grande Prairie Transit Learning Sessions on October 9

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – September 26, 2025) – The City is inviting residents to take part in Grande Prairie Transit learning sessions that provide a welcoming introduction to the local transit system.

The sessions take place on October 9, 2025, at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion, with two times available: 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Welcoming Week brings community together through storytelling in Grande Prairie

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – September 5, 2025) – The City of Grande Prairie invites residents to take part in Welcoming Week from September 12–21, 2025, alongside local community partners.

The theme for the 2025 celebrations is “Stories We Share” and highlights storytelling as a way to celebrate differences, find common ground and strengthen community connections. 

City launches Passport to Grande Prairie to help newcomers navigate local services

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – July 31, 2025) – The City, in partnership with the Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership (GPLIP) Council, has launched a new resource guide called the Passport to Grande Prairie to help newcomers and immigrants navigate essential services in the city. 

The passport is a booklet that serves as a one-stop, user-friendly guide to help newcomers settle into the community by providing accessible information about local services and resources. 

City launches survey to understand community needs and improve local supports

The City of Grande Prairie is inviting residents to help guide the future of community supports and services by completing the online Community Supports & Services Survey, open from June 5 to July 4, 2025.

The survey is an opportunity for residents to share their feedback, identify local needs and help shape priorities that contribute to a healthy, connected community. Responses will inform future planning and funding decisions for programs and services that support individuals, families and the broader community.

Social Prescribing Information Sessions Taking Place April 28- May 6

The City of Grande Prairie, in partnership with the Grande Prairie Primary Care Network (PCN), invites residents aged 55 and older to attend upcoming information sessions to learn about the benefits of Social Prescribing — a community-based initiative designed to enhance overall well-being by connecting individuals to non-medical supports.

Social Prescribing was launched earlier this year as a collaborative initiative between the City and PCN to support older adults facing social isolation, mental health challenges, or difficulties accessing essential resources. 

City announces 2025 Aging Well Together priorities and goals

Grande Prairie City Council has approved the Aging Well Together priorities, setting a clear path to enhance the community's age-friendliness in 2025.

The Aging Well Together initiative seeks to address the specific needs of the 19.3 per cent of the population that is ages 55 and older. The project kicked off in 2024 with community engagement, which helped inform and guide the priorities document. 

The priorities highlighted in the Aging Well Together document include:
