(Grande Prairie, Alta. – November 25, 2025) – The City of Grande Prairie is launching a new Youth Economic Empowerment Microgrant to help youth and young adults access opportunities that support their employment or skill development goals.
The Microgrant provides meaningful support to residents aged 15 to 30 who are taking steps toward their future. It offers up to $750 per individual to help cover costs such as safety training, professional certification courses, workwear and the tools or equipment needed for employment. Many young people face financial hurdles that can slow their progress, and this support helps make essential training and equipment more accessible.
“Youth are an essential part of the story of Grande Prairie,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton. “When we support young people in accessing the tools and training they need, we are helping them build confidence and creating stronger connections across our community. This program is one more way we can support quality of life for all ages, and build supports that help both future employees and business owners succeed.”
