Grande Prairie to co-host provincial launch of Seniors’ Week

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – May 7, 2026) – In Grande Prairie, aging well is shaped by connection, community and the ways people continue to show up for one another over time. That spirit will be on full display June 1 as residents gather for the Aging Well Together: Seniors’ Week Celebration.

Presented by the City of Grande Prairie and the Grande Prairie and Area Council on Aging, and co-hosted by the Government of Alberta, the free event takes place at The Bowes at Bonnetts Energy Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will mark Alberta’s official launch of Seniors’ Week.

Bi-Annual Seniors’ Tea Returns to Evergreen Park This June

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – May 5, 2026) – Local seniors are invited to an afternoon of tea, conversation, and community connection at the Bi-Annual Seniors’ Tea.

The free event takes place on Wednesday, June 3 from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Evergreen Park, and is held in recognition of Seniors’ Week. The tea is hosted by the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) teams from the County of Grande Prairie, City of Grande Prairie, and the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley.

Youth Week brings big energy, bold ideas and career discovery to Grande Prairie

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – May 4, 2026) – Youth Week in Grande Prairie returns with a full lineup of activities designed to help young people try new things, build confidence and explore future opportunities.

A key highlight is the Youth Career Discovery Expo on May 7 at Bonnetts Energy Centre. The event will bring together more than 100 exhibitors and is expected to welcome over 2,000 youth an young adults ages 15 to 30.

Discover What’s Possible at the 2026 Youth Career Discovery Expo on May 7

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – March 4, 2026) – For many young people, choosing a career path can feel overwhelming. The Youth Career Discovery Expo aims to make that journey clearer and more accessible.

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the City of Grande Prairie welcomes youth and young adults ages 15 to 30 to connect with local employers, post-secondary institutions and training providers at Bonnetts Energy Centre during the annual Youth Career Discovery Expo, creating space for questions, hands-on experiences and real connections that can shape their future.

City Invites Applications for Housing & Homelessness Advisory Committee

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – March 4, 2026) – The City of Grande Prairie is inviting community members to apply to serve on the Housing and Homelessness Advisory Committee (HHAC). 

The committee provides strategic advice and recommendations to Council and Administration on housing and homelessness priorities, system planning and the allocation of municipal, provincial and federal funding.
