(Grande Prairie, Alta. – March 4, 2026) – For many young people, choosing a career path can feel overwhelming. The Youth Career Discovery Expo aims to make that journey clearer and more accessible.

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the City of Grande Prairie welcomes youth and young adults ages 15 to 30 to connect with local employers, post-secondary institutions and training providers at Bonnetts Energy Centre during the annual Youth Career Discovery Expo, creating space for questions, hands-on experiences and real connections that can shape their future.

With more than 100 exhibitors expected, this year’s expo places a strong focus on interactive, hands-on experiences that allow youth to try key aspects of different career paths. From practical demonstrations to skill-based activities, participants will gain a clearer understanding of what various opportunities look like.

Last year, 90 per cent of surveyed attendees reported learning about new career or education opportunities, demonstrating its impact for young people in the community. The event gives teachers and career counsellors an opportunity to connect their students with local employers and post-secondary programs in an exciting and engaging way.

“The Youth Career Discovery Expo helps young people see their potential,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “By creating space for hands-on learning and real conversations with employers, post-secondary institutions and training providers, we are helping youth build confidence and recognize that meaningful opportunities exist for them right here in Grande Prairie.”

Admission is free, ensuring the experience is accessible to all who want to attend. Giveaways and contest prize opportunities will be available throughout the expo.

The Youth Career Discovery Expo is supported through funding from the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS), administered through the Tamarack Institute.  This support helps reduce barriers for youth and strengthens connections between young people and local employers.
