(Grande Prairie, Alta. – January 7, 2026) – The City of Grande Prairie is inviting residents to help shape the future of local programs and services that support families, seniors, youth and overall community wellbeing by taking part in a new round of engagement sessions this January.

Last year, residents shared their experiences, ideas and concerns about the social issues and resources that shape their daily lives through the Community Supports and Services Survey. The insight offered a meaningful look at what strengthens wellbeing in Grande Prairie and where added support could make a difference. That understanding now sets the stage for deeper, in-person conversations that will help guide the direction of Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) in the years ahead.

The upcoming sessions create space for residents to talk openly about the kinds of local programs and services that matter most to them, the challenges they face in accessing support and the opportunities they see to build a more connected community.

“Hearing directly from residents on what supports they feel our community needs most whether its seniors looking for community connection, new parents looking for support, individuals seeking improved access to workforce training and education, people with disabilities advocating for greater accessibility or any other need in the community – it all helps shape the path forward to foster a welcoming, caring community that reflects the people who call Grande Prairie home,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton.

Everyone is welcome to participate, including families, seniors, youth, service providers and anyone who cares about community wellbeing. These conversations will help guide future Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) priorities, partnerships and funding recommendations, ensuring they reflect the needs of a growing and diverse community.
