2025 Community Group Enhancement Funding applications available until April 30

With the goal of assisting community groups and organizations in delivering exceptional services and activities that enhance the quality of life for residents, the City is pleased to announce that Community Group Enhancement Funding applications are now open until April 30 for projects in the 2025 funding cycle.

Community Group Enhancement Funding is one of the City’s various funding streams. It allocates financial support to various community groups or agencies that provide programs and services that enhance and enrich Grande Prairie and its residents.

Local volunteers recognized at 2023 Volunteer Awards

The City of Grande Prairie and Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations (VolunteerGP) announced the 2023 Volunteer Award recipients at the annual volunteer breakfast today.

The awards take place on International Volunteer Day to celebrate all the community volunteers nominated while highlighting the 2023 recipients who contribute to a more inclusive and caring community through volunteerism.

Aquatera Outdoor Pool closing for 2023 season on September 25

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – September 19, 2023) – The Aquatera Outdoor Pool officially closes for 2023 on September 25 after another successful season.

“We are thrilled the weather co-operated this year to keep the Aquatera Outdoor Pool open a few extra weeks to accommodate residents during the extended aquatics annual maintenance shutdown at the Eastlink Centre,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We want to thank residents for spending their summer creating memories with us at the Aquatera Outdoor Pool this season and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year!”

Canadian National Railway (CN) sponsors Activity & Reception Centre afterschool youth drop-in times

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – August 31, 2023) – The City of Grande is thrilled to offer Canadian National Railway (CN) sponsored (free-to-you) afterschool youth drop-in times at the Activity and Reception Centre from September 2023 to August 2024.

CN sponsored youth drop-in at the Activity and Reception Centre is for ages 10 to 17 and takes place five times a week from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday. Children ages six to nine are also welcome to attend the CN sponsored drop-in times with parent supervision.

GirlZone Event Returning September 9

A previous version of this release identified yoga with Bliss Be Fit as an activity, whereas it is glow dance with Girl Be You! This is corrected below.

The City of Grande Prairie is bringing back its one-day GirlZone event on Saturday, September 9.

GirlZone is an activity-based day for girls ages 10 to 15 to encourage them to try out new skills and recreational activities with their peers.
