The City of Grande Prairie has welcomed a new electric-powered Zamboni at the Design Works Centre.

Key features of the electric Zamboni include:

• Zero emissions: The electric Zamboni does not produce emissions while in operation, reducing our environmental impact while improving local air quality.
• Cost-efficiency: The electric Zamboni will contribute to cost savings through reduced fuel consumption and maintenance expenses over time.
• Quiet operation: The electric motor provides a more enjoyable ice rink experience for players and spectators alike by minimizing operational noises.

“The integration of the electric Zamboni at the Design Works Centre highlights the City’s commitment to sustainable operations and innovative solutions,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “We appreciate the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre’s support in purchasing this new equipment that will contribute to lowering our carbon footprint while maintaining operations and ice quality.”

Funding for this project was provided by the Government of Alberta, through the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities Program (EVM), administered by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC).

The MCCAC is a partnership of Alberta Municipalities, the Rural Municipalities of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta. Funding for the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities Program was provided by the Government of Alberta.
