(Grande Prairie, Alta. – August 31, 2023) – The City of Grande is thrilled to offer Canadian National Railway (CN) sponsored (free-to-you) afterschool youth drop-in times at the Activity and Reception Centre from September 2023 to August 2024.
CN sponsored youth drop-in at the Activity and Reception Centre is for ages 10 to 17 and takes place five times a week from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday. Children ages six to nine are also welcome to attend the CN sponsored drop-in times with parent supervision.
“Council is thankful for partners like CN that step up to contribute towards creating an inclusive, active, caring and accessible community,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton. “This sponsorship creates additional drop-in programming for youth to be active and play in a safe and inclusive space, which supports our community overall."
Youth drop-in times feature intermural style activities and free play opportunities including skateboarding, badminton, pickleball, basketball, disc golf and floor hockey.
The Activity and Reception Centre is accessible by City Transit Route 7 and walkable from Riverstone Public School and Hillside School.
Transit for youth ages 17 and under is now free in the City of Grande Prairie with youth SUPERPASS cards distributed to students at various Grande Prairie schools.
Youth who are not enrolled with the Public or Catholic Schools may obtain their free youth SUPERPASS card from City Hall with valid ID, confirming age.
