Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership seeking feedback from immigrants

All Grande Prairie immigrants ages 16 years or older are invited to participate in a survey to share their experiences about living in our community to help improve the lives of newcomers, immigrants, and refugees in Grande Prairie.

Topics covered include demographic information, employment and income, use of community services, housing, sense of belonging, challenges and solutions, communication and more.

Community Advisory Board on Housing and Homelessness recruiting community members

The Community Advisory Board on Housing and Homelessness (CABH) is currently recruiting public board members.  

CABH acts as an advisor to the City of Grande Prairie for grant funding received from the Government of Canada and the Province of Alberta to give input into current and future priorities for affordable housing and ending homelessness.

Celebrate Welcoming Week around the City of Grande Prairie

Grande Prairie’s Local Immigration Partnership Council encourages all residents to participate in Welcoming Week, running from September 8 to 17.

Welcoming Week is an internationally observed occasion that champions the contributions and significance of newcomers and immigrants in communities worldwide. It is an annual opportunity to recognize the people, places and value that make up our community, and help foster a sense of belonging.

City Awarded $300,000 from Alberta Government in Support of Inclusive and Caring Community Initiative

The City of Grande Prairie has been awarded a $300,000 Settlement, Integration, and Language Project (SILP) Grant from the Alberta Government for the Grande Prairie Inclusive and Caring Community Initiative (GPICC), until March 31, 2025.

The GPICC focuses on building community capacity to attract and retain newcomers, educate employers, and enhance service provider knowledge to create a welcoming and inclusive community where the voices of everyone are heard, valued, and understood.
