Empowering our youth: new grant targets financial hurdles in education and employment

The City of Grande Prairie is proud to announce the launch of the Communities Building Youth Futures (CBYF) Microgrant Program. This initiative, in partnership with the Tamarack Institute, is designed to assist youth aged 13 to 30 in overcoming financial barriers to education and employment.

The CBYF Microgrant offers up to $750 per individual to help address specific needs such as transportation, educational materials, work attire, and certification fees. The program is now accepting applications through a user-friendly web form, available on the City’s website.

Coordinated Care Campus welcomes The Mustard Seed as new service provider

The City of Grande Prairie has awarded the contract for service provision at the Coordinated Care Campus to The Mustard Seed.

The Mustard Seed’s mission is in alignment with the Coordinated Care Campus’s recovery-oriented model of care. Their programs and services include basic needs, health and wellness, housing, employment, spiritual care and community engagement. They will also be present on the Housing HUB table with other local housing and mental health organizations.

National Addictions Awareness Week: Experience the 'Opioids Don't Discriminate' Exhibit

The City is observing National Addictions Awareness Week (NAAW), from November 19 to 25 to increase public understanding and reduce the stigma surrounding addictions and substance use. 

NAAW focuses on fostering solutions and providing insights into the harms related to alcohol and other drugs. It's a time for Canadians to enhance their knowledge on the prevention, treatment, and recovery of substance use disorders and to discuss the continuous advancement of effective solutions.
