Northreach Society and City preparing for smooth transition to a new Coordinated Care Campus service provider

Northreach Society, the service provider for the Coordinated Care Campus, has notified the City of Grande Prairie that they intend to revise their service delivery plan away from supportive housing and towards a primary focus on healthcare supports for the city’s most vulnerable.  This change will occur at the end of June and includes carefully planned provisions with continued positive collaboration between Northreach and the City during and after the transition to a new Coordinated Care Campus service provider.

City Hosting Free Youth Week Activities May 1 to 7 with Youth Advisory Council

The City of Grande Prairie’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) invites local youth ages 12 to 24 to join one of the many free activities happening for Youth Week from May 1 to 7, 2023.

“City Council is excited to host and partner with a number of organizations to offer a week filled with free activities for youth,” says Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “National Youth Week is an important event showcasing the many youth-friendly activities available in our community which support an inclusive and caring community and active lifestyle.”

2022 Point in Time Count of Homelessness Results Now Available

Results from the City of Grande Prairie 2022 Point in Time (PiT) Count on Homelessness observed at least 328 individuals experiencing homelessness in the community.

On September 26 and 27, 2022, Grande Prairie participated in its bi-annual Point in Time (PiT) Count to capture information on the city’s current homeless population

PiT Counts serve two important functions: it provides a current snapshot of the city’s homeless population, and it potentially reveals shifts in how homelessness may be changing over time. 

Local Women Honoured at City’s Annual Women of Influence Awards

The Women of Influence Awards 2023 recipients were announced today.

The awards take place to commemorate International Women’s Day in Grande Prairie and aim to recognize local women who have made a strong impact by promoting equality, providing opportunities for women in the community and breaking barriers in their field.

Tahnia Getson is named this year’s Young Woman of Influence. Tahnia is a community leader, multi-disciplinary artist, mentor, and advocate for those who are systemically excluded.

Crime Rates Decreasing Around Coordinated Care Campus, According to RCMP Report

A Crime Analysis Report presented by the RCMP at the City of Grande Prairie’s Public & Protective Services Committee meeting on January 31 has noted a trending decrease in crime data in the areas surrounding the Coordinated Care Campus.

A historic review of crime data from 2019 onwards was completed for the surrounding areas of the facility, including Northridge and Northgate East, as well as for the Coordinated Care Campus itself.

The report was based on police calls and common offenses.
