Point-in-Time (PiT) Count on Homelessness taking place October 9

On October 9, the City of Grande Prairie is taking part in a coordinated effort to measure homelessness across Alberta and Canada as part of the annual Everyone Counts: Point in Time (PiT) Count of homelessness. 

The count tracks homelessness in many forms including people staying in emergency shelters, short-term housing and more to improve understanding of the needs and circumstances of the people who are affected by homelessness in the community.

Celebrate Welcoming Week 2024 with the City of Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie’s Local Immigration Partnership (GPLIP) invites all residents to join in the upcoming Welcoming Week celebrations from September 13 to 22.

Welcoming Week aims to connect new arrivals with long-standing residents, fostering a sense of belonging across the community. The week’s events will highlight the extensive support, services, and amenities that Grande Prairie offers, all while building bridges and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.

Grande Prairie Youth Week 2024 Kicks Off with Art Unveiling and Proclamation at Sunrise House

During a special proclamation ceremony hosted at Sunrise House on May 1, Grande Prairie, Mayor Jackie Clayton, officially announced the kick-off to Youth Week 2024, running from May 1 to May 7. In conjunction with the kick-off, the event also featured the unveiling of a community-driven art project created during the City’s Youth Career Discovery Expo.

Municipal services set to start at Coordinated Care Campus

Several municipal services presently located at the City on 99 building are relocating to the Coordinated Care Campus effective April 1, 2024.

The move includes: Enforcement Services, Mobile Outreach, Community Social Development (CSD), Housing & Homeless Initiatives (HHI), Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS) and Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP).

Youth Career Discovery Expo 2024: A Gateway to Future Careers and Education for Grande Prairie’s Youth

The City of Grande Prairie, alongside the Communities Building Youth Futures (CBYF) initiative, invites youth in Grande Prairie to participate in the Youth Career Discovery Expo 2024. This event, happening on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Bonnetts Energy Centre, aims to support youth on their journeys toward career and educational success.
