New Accessibility Pass available for carnival rides at Canada Day

The City of Grande Prairie is introducing a new Accessibility Pass to support individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities during lineups for carnival rides while ensuring everyone can enjoy a fun and welcoming Canada Day celebration at Muskoseepi Park. 

The Accessibility Pass allows everyone to enjoy Canada Day to its fullest by ensuring people and families of people with physical or cognitive disabilities can go to the front of the line for carnival rides at the Canada Day celebration from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The City is cranking up the celebrations in Muskoseepi Park this Canada Day with Alberta-born, double-platinum selling country star Aaron Goodvin headlining the celebrations on July 1. 

With a dynamic stage presence and chart-topping hits such as Lonely Drum, 2018 CCMA Songwriter of the Year Aaron Goodvin brings serious star power to this year’s event. Born in Spirit River, he's returning to the region to help his home community celebrate in a big way on the Canada Day stage.

Gear up for a day of patriotic pride at the City of Grande Prairie’s 2025 Canada Day festivities in Muskoseepi Park on July 1. 

The City is celebrating with a full day of family-friendly fun, starting with the annual downtown Canada Day parade at 2 p.m., Muskoseepi Park activities from 3:30 to midnight and finishing off with fireworks over the reservoir. 

Splash into outdoor pool season at the Here Comes Summer event June 6

Jump into sunshine season by joining the City of Grande Prairie at the third annual Here Comes Summer event in Muskoseepi Park on Friday, June 6, from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Here Comes Summer kicks-off seasonal fun with free, family-friendly activities including swimming at the Aquatera Outdoor Pool season opener from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., sponsored by Aquatera Utilities Inc., and a community barbecue (while supplies last). 

Aquatera Outdoor Pool concludes splashing good 2024 season

A previous version of this release noted the Eastlink Centre aquatics re-opening date as Friday, September 27, whereas it will re-open on Saturday, September 28. This has been corrected below.

The Aquatera Outdoor Pool has concluded another splashing good season and is now closed until next summer.

The Here Comes Summer event kicked off the outdoor pool season on June 7 with free public swimming sponsored by Aquatera Utilities Inc., a community barbecue, outdoor games and roller skating demonstrations. 

Transit and transportation information for July 1 Canada Day activities

The City of Grande Prairie is getting ready for another year of Canada Day celebrations happening downtown on Monday, July 1. 

The Canada Day parade begins at 2 p.m. and travels from Hillside to Northwestern Polytechnic Parking Lot A via 100 Avenue. Several roads and transit routes have impacts on Monday, July 1 to accommodate the Canada Day parade. 

Aquatera Outdoor Pool offers private facility rentals this summer

Create grander splashes at the Aquatera Outdoor Pool this summer with private facility bookings starting June 8. 

Private facility rentals are available in one-hour time slots (for a maximum of two hours) on Saturdays and Sundays between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. during the outdoor pool season, weather permitting. 

Bookings are now open for the summer and must be made at least seven days in advance of the private event. Request your booking today by contacting bookings@cityofgp.com.
