UPDATE: Grande Prairie Fire Department responding to structure fire at Farmers’ Market

UPDATE as of 10:10 November 22, 2025: 

The Grande Prairie Fire Department concluded fire response at the Farmers’ Market at 02:30 November 22, 2025. 

Gaining access to the attic from multiple areas outside the structure allowed crews to successfully get the fire under control, re-enter the structure and mitigate further losses within.

Fire Advisory lifted for the City of Grande Prairie

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – October 31, 2025) – Effective Friday, October 31, 2025 at 3 p.m., the City of Grande Prairie Fire Department has lifted the Fire Advisory for the city. This decision follows recent rain and cooler temperatures, which have lowered the wildfire danger in the area to low. 

This change aligns with Alberta Wildfire’s move to lift all restrictions in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. While the risk has decreased, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow all burning guidelines to ensure community safety.

Fire ban now in effect for City of Grande Prairie

A fire ban is now in effect for the City of Grande Prairie, including annexed rural areas, as of 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 due to extreme fire conditions.

Permitted activities:

  • Propane and natural gas barbecues.
  • Propane and natural gas firepits.
  • Propane and natural gas appliances.
  • Indoor wood fireplaces.
  • Wood pellet smokers and barbecues with safety shut-off.
  • Open flame oil devices (including tiki torches).
