Bannister GP Kia partnership brings new energy to family spaces at Eastlink Centre

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – March 24, 2026) – The City of Grande Prairie is pleased to announce a new naming rights partnership with Bannister GP Kia, bringing support to multiple family focused amenities at Eastlink Centre. 

Through this partnership, two popular spaces within the facility will now be known as Kia PlayCare and the Kia TreeHouse, reflecting a shared commitment to creating welcoming and engaging environments for children and families in the community.

Splash into dive-in movie nights at Eastlink Centre starting October 24

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – October 15, 2025) – The Eastlink Centre is turning movie night into a pool party with a new Dive-In Movie series running once a month through December. 

The first feature, Hotel Transylvania, hits the big screen on Friday, October 24. Guests can float in the pool or relax in the stands to enjoy this Halloween favourite in a fun and festive setting. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:45 p.m.

Fourth Annual GirlZone inspires girls to explore sport and recreation

The City of Grande Prairie is proud to host the 4th annual GirlZone on Saturday, October 4, 2025, welcoming girls ages 10 to 15 for a day of discovery and connection.

GirlZone has grown into a signature event where participants can step outside their comfort zones, try new activities and build confidence in a supportive setting. The program is designed to keep girls engaged in recreation during their teen years while fostering friendships and a sense of belonging.

Annual Aquatics Maintenance Shutdown Begins September 1

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – August 11, 2025) – The aquatics area at Eastlink Centre will be closed from September 1 to October 5 for annual maintenance.   

This scheduled shutdown allows City staff and contractors to complete essential work that supports the long-term health, safety and efficiency of the facility. By completing deep cleaning, preventative maintenance and infrastructure upgrades during this time, the City helps extend the life of key systems and amenities while minimizing disruptions throughout the year.

Transportation, transit and facility impacts for Grande Prairie Triathlon July 5, 6

The City of Grande Prairie advises residents of road closures, transit route changes and temporary Eastlink Centre facility impacts due to the Grande Prairie Triathlon taking place Sunday, July 6.

Facility Impacts

The Eastlink Centre serves as the central venue for the triathlon.

To accommodate event preparations, the West Fraser Fieldhouse closes to the public at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 5 for the athlete carb-load dinner. The aquatics area closes at 6:30 p.m. the same evening for event setup.

Hansen Lincoln renews naming rights agreement for Community Knowledge Campus field

Grande Prairie City Council approved a five-year extension of Hansen Lincoln’s naming rights for the west turf field and grandstands located at the Community Knowledge Campus. 

The agreement begins at the end of the current term and extends the naming rights of Hansen Lincoln Field through to 2032. The early extension provides funding for lighting improvements along the west side of the grandstands at the facility. 

City launches AccessNow for real-time amenity information at Eastlink Centre

The City of Grande Prairie is launching a new tool called AccessNow at the Eastlink Centre and Design Works Centre to enhance visitor experience.

AccessNow is an online dashboard created to communicate amenity status within a 20-minute accuracy window as either available, partially available or unavailable due to planned or unexpected maintenance, contaminations and more.

If an amenity is operational, it displays green; if the amenity is partially operational, it displays yellow; and if the amenity is not operational, it displays red.

City partners with Prescription to Get Active program

The City of Grande Prairie is excited to announce the Eastlink Centre as a new recreation facility partner with the Prescription to Get Active program and Grande Prairie’s Primary Care Network (GP PCN).

The Prescription to Get Active program is an initiative where healthcare providers prescribe physical activity to help individuals lead healthier lifestyles. Participants can redeem their prescription for free access to various activities at local recreation partner facilities and organizations, including the Eastlink Centre, to make it easier to get started with regular exercise.
