Registration Now Open for 2023 Eastlink Centre Triathlon

Registration for the 2023 Eastlink Centre Triathlon, taking place on Sunday, July 9, is now available for various adult and Kids of Steel categories.

“The Eastlink Centre Triathlon is an important annual sport tourism event that welcomes athletes from across western Canada to our community,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We invite athletes of all ages and fitness levels to come move at the Eastlink Centre Triathlon and cross the finish line, whether it be solo or as part of a team.”

Annual Eastlink Centre Triathlon Taking Place July 9

The City is excited to announce this year’s Eastlink Centre Triathlon date as Sunday, July 9, 2023.

“The Eastlink Centre Triathlon is a significant annual sporting event in our community that attracts participation from both residents and visitors to our community,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We look forward to another successful year and encourage everyone to get involved in the event whether as a participant, a volunteer or a corporate sponsor- there’s opportunity for everyone to support!”

Eastlink Centre FlowRider Now Open

The City is excited to announce the FlowRider machine, located in the Eastlink Centre aquatics area, has re-opened for public use.  

“We’re looking forward to have this amenity up and available for public use again soon,” says Angela Redding, General Manager at the Community Knowledge Campus. “The re-introduction of the FlowRider at the Eastlink Centre provides visitors an additional unique and fun recreational activity to try out at the facility.”

Community Invited to Annual Family Day Event, Presented by New Horizon Co-op

The City of Grande Prairie is hosting Family Day, presented by New Horizon Co-op, with free activities on Sunday, February 19 at the Eastlink Centre and Design Works Centre.

“We’re thrilled to be partnered with New Horizon Co-op for our annual Family Day event at the Community Knowledge Campus,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton. “This day of free events aims to celebrate all families in our community by incorporating a mix of free activities that are culturally significant, age-inclusive and accessible.”

Junior Lifeguard Club and Rookie Day Programs Return to the Eastlink Centre in January

The City of Grande Prairie is excited to re-offer the Junior Lifeguard Club and Rookie Day programs at the Eastlink Centre for youth ages 8 to 15 starting in January.

Junior Lifeguard Club and Rookie Day are great opportunities for youth interested in becoming a lifeguard or who are passionate about swimming. These activities are being offered following positive community reception of the same programs from the fall.

Celebrate ‘One More Night’ of the Eastlink Centre’s 10-Year Anniversary on December 11

The community is invited to celebrate the finale of the Eastlink Centre’s 10-year anniversary at the “One More Night: A Celebration of the Eastlink Centre” event on Sunday, December 11.

The event features free admission all day to the Eastlink Centre with a variety of free activities including:

Eastlink Centre Wrapping Up 10-Year Anniversary Celebration with Month-Long Activities and Event

The City of Grande Prairie invites the community to celebrate the final month of Eastlink Centre’s 10-year anniversary with free activities from November 12 to December 11, finishing off with a large facility-wide event.

“We’re excited to celebrate the finale of the Eastlink Centre’s 10-year anniversary milestone,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton. “The Eastlink Centre is a pillar of recreation and sport in our community, and we look forward to providing many more years of inclusive and affordable recreation options for residents at the facility.”

City Hosting Free Sport Sampler Days at Community Knowledge Campus

The City of Grande Prairie is providing a new Sport Sampler Days event to encourage the community to try out new activities while participating in an active lifestyle.

Sport Sampler Days features different activities at the Community Knowledge Campus, inclusive of the Eastlink Centre and Twin Ice Arenas, to try for free each day from October 29 to November 12, excluding October 30 and November 11.

Most activities have one time slot, take place in the evening and can accommodate between six and 20 people per session. Participation is open for residents ages 16 and older.
