City Hosting Virtual Conversations With Local Non-Profits

Starting Thursday, April 30, the City of Grande Prairie is hosting weekly virtual coffee meetings with local non-profits to discuss challenges and opportunities related to the pandemic.

Local social serving non-profits are invited to join to discuss innovative ideas for service delivery, challenges the agencies are facing, supports they may need and what the agencies are currently doing to build community resiliency during the pandemic.

The meetings take place every Thursday from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m.

Passionate Heart Awards Luncheon Recognizes Social Services Workers

Eight award recipients in the field of social services were recognized today at the 14th Annual Passionate Heart Celebration.

Sponsored by the Family Community Support Services (FCSS) in the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley, and the Village of Hythe, the Passionate Heart Awards celebrate people and organizations who contribute significantly to their community, enhance social services in the region, and are dedicated to improving quality of life.

Next Phase of Engagement Planned for the Integrated Coordinated Access (ICA) Initiative

Residents have the opportunity to provide input on the next phase of the City of Grande Prairie’s Integrated Coordinated Access (ICA) initiative on February 19 and 20.

Service providers, outreach workers and frontline workers in the area of social services, as well as the general public are invited to attend the engagement sessions to provide feedback on the proposed Integrated Coordinated Access design model and guide efforts to coordinate services across Grande Prairie.

Community Opioid Response Task Force Launching Quarterly Reports

Starting with the Q3 2019 report, the Grande Prairie Community Opioid Response Task Force is now making quarterly reports publicly available on their response efforts to the local opioid crisis.  

The reports are designed to serve as a resource for the many community partners involved in the task force, to educate the community, and to enhance transparency and accountability around the efforts of the task force.

Women of Influence Awards 2020 Nominations Now Open

Nominations are now open for the Women of Influence Awards 2020.

The Women of Influence Awards recognize local women who have made a strong impact by promoting equality, providing opportunities for women in the community and breaking barriers in their field.

Our region is known for its vibrancy, entrepreneurship and continuous growth and these awards are a way to celebrate women’s achievements in making this possible with equal opportunity for all.

Community Invited to Public Engagement Opportunity on Social Issues and Wellbeing in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie is inviting residents to join in on some upcoming community sessions to help shape the community response to safety and wellbeing in Grande Prairie.

In partnership with community stakeholders, the City is leading an Integrated Coordinated Access (ICA) initiative with the goal of making it easier for people to navigate social services, increase knowledge about where and how to access help when they need it, and to increase the efficiency of service delivery in Grande Prairie.
