City Scrub

City Scrub is an annual community clean-up initiative in Grande Prairie, encouraging residents to dedicate 20 minutes to collect and properly dispose of litter accumulated over the winter in local parks and neighbourhoods. The event typically runs throughout April, with free supplies such as garbage bags and gloves available at various City facilities, including City Hall, Muskoseepi Park, Eastlink Centre, Grande Prairie Museum, and the City Service Centre. Large groups can arrange for supply pick-up by emailing cityscrub@cityofgp.com. Collected litter can be disposed of in curbside garbage carts alongside regular household trash.

Know Before You Go

Free supplies, including garbage bags and gloves, are available for participants to help clean up our community. Supplies will be available beginning April 2 until April 30.
You can pick up these supplies at:
- City Hall (10295 98 Street)
- Muskoseepi Park (Ernie Radbourne Pavilion)
- Eastlink Centre (10 Knowledge Way)
- Grande Prairie Museum (10329 101 Avenue, Muskoseepi Park)
- City Service Centre (9505 112 Street)
- Activity and Reception Centre (9401 Park Road)
Large groups can also arrange for supply pick-up by emailing cityscrub@cityofgp.com.
Join us for City Scrub, our annual community clean-up! Follow these safety tips to ensure a safe and successful experience.
Stay Safe While Cleaning
- Stick to green spaces and parks—avoid private property and restricted areas.
- Stay visible and off the roads. Work along one side of a path or sidewalk, crossing only at safe locations.
- Be aware of potential hazards, such as traffic, wildlife, pets, pooled water, and broken glass.
- Only pick up garbage—do not collect large debris, hazardous materials, or dead animals.
Personal Safety Tips
- Dress for the weather and wear appropriate clothing.
- Use gloves when handling garbage.
- If you’re working with a group, stay together.
- Be aware of your surroundings and watch for uneven terrain or obstacles.
Needle Disposal
If you find a needle, do not pick it up. Instead, contact the following resources:

- Mobile Outreach at 780-830-7094 or email mobileoutreach@gppolice.com. (Hours of operations are 6 a.m.-midnight, 7 days a week, excluding statutory holidays.)
Garbage Collection & Disposal
- Place collected garbage in your curbside bin or a City garbage can.
- If your cleanup results in a large amount of waste that won’t fit in your bin, contact Jessica at cityscrub@cityofgp.com to arrange for Parks staff to assist with collection.
