Step into a world of culture and community at the City of Grande Prairie’s lively Heritage Day event happening Saturday, August 2 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Museum’s Heritage Village. 

The Heritage Day event highlights local history and diverse cultures in Grande Prairie while featuring fun, family-friendly activities. 

Date: Saturday, August 2, 2025

Time: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Heritage Village in the Grande Prairie Museum (Muskoseepi Park)

Cost: FREE! 

Activities:

  • Community and cultural booths.
  • Roaming entertainment.
  • Blacksmith demonstrations sponsored by Kaynic Construction Ltd. 
  • Ropemaking activity. 
  • Old fashioned bingo.
  • Interactive Tub n’ Scrub laundry activity sponsored by Richmond Dry Cleaners.
  • Old fashioned games and carnival games, including can toss, shooting gallery and top taffel.
  • HAM (amateur) radio demonstrations. HAM radios were used as a communication tool back in the 20th century for people to talk across the world before cell phones were created.
  • Drumming circle performance from the Red Elk Drummers.
  • A local jigger.
  • Food vendors with cultural food dishes.
  • And more!

Muskoseepi Park is the hub of activity for Heritage Day, with additional festivities taking place on August 2 including the Grande Prairie Intercultural Association Bites Around the World event and the Chariot Festival of Grande Prairie.
