Parade Route

• Traffic Impacts

  Temporary road closures will be in effect before and during the parade.

  Road closures 

  Beginning at approximately 6 a.m.:

  • Westbound 100 Avenue between 98 Street and 102 Street will be closed for event setup.

  Beginning at approximately 1:50 p.m.:

  • Rolling road closures will be in effect along the parade route from 108 Avenue to Northwestern Polytechnic.

  Roads will reopen in sections as the parade passes to help reduce traffic delays while maintaining a safe distance between vehicles and parade participants.

• Travel Tips

  • Eastbound traffic on 99 Avenue/100 Avenue will remain open during the parade.
  • Northbound and southbound traffic crossing 100 Avenue at 98 Street, 100 Street and 102 Street will be temporarily detoured.
  • For north-south travel, use 108 Street or 92 Street where possible.
  • For westbound travel, use 116 Avenue or 68 Avenue to avoid delays.
  • Access Northwestern Polytechnic via 107 Avenue and 108 Street where possible.

  Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time on Canada Day.

• Transit Impacts

  Transit service will be impacted on Wednesday, July 1 due to the Canada Day parade and related road closures.

  Routes temporarily unavailable

  The following routes will be temporarily unavailable during the parade:

  • Route 3: unavailable from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Route 4: unavailable from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Route 6: unavailable from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Route 7: unavailable from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Route 8: unavailable from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  Stop closures

  The following stops will be closed during the specified times:

  From 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Route 3: Stop 302
  • Route 4: Stop 402
  • Route 8: Stop 802

  From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Route 1: Stops 3000, 164, 166 and 168

  Route 1 reroute

  Route 1 will not be able to enter the Northwestern Polytechnic grounds during the parade.

  During the reroute, Route 1 will travel along 108 Street to 100 Avenue when returning to the downtown area. No temporary stops will be added during this reroute. Riders who normally use stops on the NWP grounds should use the nearest available regular stop outside the closure area.

  Route 3 reroute

  Before Route 3 becomes unavailable during the parade, it will detour to 101 Avenue when leaving Town Centre Mall because 100 Avenue will not be accessible.

  This means Stop 302 will be missed. Riders are asked to board Route 3 at Town Centre Mall instead.

  Routes not impacted

  Routes 2, 5 and 9 are not impacted by Canada Day parade-related transit changes and will remain in regular operation throughout the day.
