The City of Grande Prairie is proud to announce the launch of the Communities Building Youth Futures (CBYF) Microgrant Program. This initiative, in partnership with the Tamarack Institute, is designed to assist youth aged 13 to 30 in overcoming financial barriers to education and employment.
The CBYF Microgrant offers up to $750 per individual to help address specific needs such as transportation, educational materials, work attire, and certification fees. The program is now accepting applications through a user-friendly web form, available on the City’s website.
“Young people in our community often face small but significant barriers in their pursuit of education and employment. This Microgrant Program is our way of saying, ‘We believe in you and are here to support your journey’,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We encourage all eligible youth to apply and make the most of this opportunity.”
Applicants must reside, work, attend school, or access services in Grande Prairie and be able to identify a barrier to their education or employment. The application process is straightforward, and the CBYF team is committed to providing quick responses to enable timely support for the applicants.
The grant covers a broad range of items and opportunities, provided they are directly related to overcoming the applicant's stated barriers.
The deadline for application submission is March 1, 2024, or until the allocated funding is fully disbursed. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to ensure their request can be considered.
