Province Lifts Public Transit Mask Mandate

On June 13, the Government of Alberta announced a move to Step Three of its re-opening plan, lifting all remaining health measures.

As a result, starting June 15, City public transit no longer requires riders to wear a mask while on board.

Province Lifting Further Restrictions, Including Mask Mandate

Starting Tuesday, March 1, the Government of Alberta is beginning Step Two of its re-opening plan which includes the lifting of the majority of existing restrictions, including the mask mandate.

All of these updates will come into effect accordingly at City facilities.

Masks remain mandatory on Transit per provincial direction.

Restriction Exemption Program Lifted from City Facilities

In response to the Province’s lifting of the Restriction Exemptions Program, all City facilities will no longer require proof-of-vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test, effective today.

Other public health measures, such as indoor masking and capacity limits at large entertainment venues, remain in place as per the Province of Alberta.

Members of the public are reminded to book recreation programming, classes, and public 'Splash & Play' times online through the regular booking process.

QR Verifier App Being Implemented at Restriction Exemption Program (REP) Participating Facilities

Effective November 15, 2021, the Alberta vaccine record with QR code will be the only option for providing proof of vaccination according to provincial mandates.

It must be shown for individuals demonstrating proof of vaccination at City facilities participating in the Restriction Exemption Program along with a valid form of ID for anyone 18+. Acceptable forms of ID include:

• Birth certificate
• Citizenship card
• Driver’s licence,
• Provincial or Territorial Government issued identification card, including health card (Alberta or other),
• Metis Nation of Alberta Association citizenship,
• Inuit Status card,
• Passport attesting to citizenship or other national status, issued by a government of any jurisdiction and including a photograph of the holder, or
• Permanent Resident card

Restriction Exemption Program (REP) In Effect at Select Facilities

The week of September 20, 2021, the following City of Grande Prairie facilities adopted the Government of Alberta’s REP and now require individuals aged 18 and older, to provide proof of vaccination, a recent negative test result, or documentation of medical exemption:

• Eastlink Centre
• Coca-Cola Centre
• Bonnetts Energy Centre
• Dave Barr Community Centre
• Grande Prairie Museum
• Heritage Discovery Centre
• The Leisure Centre

Proof of vaccination or a negative test is not required for youth under the age of 18 participating in sport, recreation and performance activities. (Proof is still required for youth who are spectating, using other amenities such as restaurants, or participating in mixed adult/youth activities, except for activities where the adult supports the youth, such as parent & tot classes).

The City is committed to providing operational updates as information is provided and clarified by the province.

These new measures are an additional step in ensuring the health and safety of City staff, customers and the community. They are in addition to the other Provincial health measures such as barriers, mandatory masking, increased sanitization, etc. that have been in place throughout the pandemic.

By implementing the REP we can continue to keep our doors safely open for access to as many of our residents as possible within the provincial health order, and continue to serve and support our many user groups and clients that provide valuable programming for our community. Implementing the REP for these facilities is the best alternative in order to continue to host programming and events, and reduce the financial impact of the pandemic.

We recognize the REP may present some challenges to some individuals, but we aim to continue to serve all our users as much as possible during this temporary provincial measure. We appreciate the kindness and cooperation towards our staff.

Province Introducing Temporary Measures to Curb Spread of COVID-19

Due to rising case numbers across Alberta, the Province has announced the following temporary measures to come into effect province-wide starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 4:

• Mandatory masking for all indoor public spaces and workplaces
  • Schools are not required to implement masking but school boards will continue to set COVID-19 management policies as they deem appropriate.
• Restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, nightclubs and other licensed establishments will be required to end alcohol service at 10 p.m.
• Albertans are encouraged to limit in-person contacts with the recommendation that unvaccinated Albertans limit their indoor social gatherings to close contacts of only two cohort families up to a maximum of 10 people.
• Working from home is recommended where possible. If employees are working on location, employees must mask for all indoor settings, except in work stations or where two-metre physical distancing or adequate physical barriers are in place.

In addition the Province is strongly urging all Albertans to book vaccine appointments via AHS online or by calling 811, or through participating pharmacies. Walk-in appointments for first doses are also available. For schedule and locations, visit ahs.ca/vaccine.

The Eastlink Centre resumes offering recreation opportunities to the community seven days a week with the addition of Sunday operating hours starting August 15.

Sunday operations were halted as part of the City’s response to COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021.

With the return to full week operating hours, memberships will return to regular rates. Discounted monthly memberships will be available for purchase until the end of day Saturday, August 14.

Users who wish to reactivate their frozen membership are asked to fill out the online membership hold/cancellation form at eastlinkcentre.ca/membership. Regular membership rates go into effect on August 15 and are also listed on this website.

Drop-in times for specific areas can be found online at eastlinkcentre.ca/schedules. Please note: Public Splash & Play and Squash & Racquetball times still require booking in advance.

Recreation and Culture Re-openings with Stage 2 of Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan

Effective June 10, 2021 restrictions have been eased by the provincial government in accordance with Stage 2 of Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan allowing for the following:

• Eastlink Centre is re-opening Monday, June 14. Read full details in the media release here.
• The Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool has increased capacity to 20 people per booking effective June 10, 2021. 
• Revolution Place, Dave Barr Community Centre and The Leisure Centre are now open to the public and available for bookings.
• The Montrose Cultural Centre is re-open to the public and available for bookings. Stay tuned to the Grande Prairie Public Library and Art Gallery of Grande Prairie for more information on their facility reopenings.
• The Grande Prairie Museum & Heritage Discovery Centre reopen Tuesday, June 15. Read full details in the media release here.
• Youth activities (day camps) resume with restrictions as identified by the provincial government.

Outdoor Fitness and Recreation Updates

In accordance with the Government of Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan, starting June 1, the City of Grande Prairie is re-introducing outdoor fitness and recreation offerings as follows:

• Outdoor fitness classes resume at the Eastlink Centre. Bookings are available online at cityofgp.com/book.
• Capacity for bookings at the outdoor pool expands to 10 people per booking. Bookings open up May 31 at cityofgp.com/outdoorpool. Anyone with existing bookings June 1 or later can expand their booking to include 10 people.
• Outdoor field and park use permit bookings resume.

In accordance with the provincial health measure announced May 4, 2021, City-owned recreational facilities are cancelling outdoor fitness and recreation classes and athletic programs until the new measures are lifted.

All users impacted by the cancellations have been notified by guest services.

Residents are encouraged  to continue to stay active and enjoy outdoor recreation with their immediate household or two close contacts where permitted.

In accordance with the latest provincial health measure, the following City recreational facilities are closing all indoor bookings for a minimum of two weeks:

• The Leisure Centre
  • Cancellations include: school and academy bookings, recreation programming and user group bookings.
• Dave Barr Community Centre
• Revolution Place
• Community Knowledge Campus (including Eastlink Centre and Coca-Cola Centre)
  • Cancellations include: personal training, swimming lessons, private 1:1 sessions, and user group bookings

  • The Hat Trick Grill in the Coca-Cola Centre remains open for delivery or take-out

Province Implementing Targeted Measures in Hot Spot Communities, Including Grande Prairie

The Government of Alberta has announced new mandatory measures to address growing COVID-19 cases in communities where there are at least 350 cases per 100,000 people and 250 currently active cases, which currently includes Grande Prairie.

The targeted restrictions will remain in place for at least two weeks and will be lifted once the municipality falls back below the threshold.

The restrictions are as follows for Grande Prairie:

• Starting May 3, all junior and senior high school students (Grades 7 and above) will shift to online learning. K-6 students will continue in-classroom learning unless otherwise approved by Alberta Education to shift to online-learning.
• Effective April 30, all indoor fitness activities are prohibited, including:
  • all group physical activities, such as team sports, fitness classes and training sessions
  • all one-on-one lessons and training activities
  • all practices, training and games
• Outdoor fitness activities may continue under province-wide restrictions currently in place, including individual or household one-on-one training with a trainer.
• All youth and adult indoor group physical activities, including team sports and one-on-one training sessions, are prohibited.
• Outdoor sport and recreation activities may continue under province-wide restrictions currently in place:
  • Outdoor team sports where two-metre distancing cannot be maintained at all times (such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, slo-pitch and road hockey) remain prohibited.
  • Outdoor fitness training is allowed, as are physically distanced group fitness classes with a maximum of 10 participants.
  • Outdoor group physical activity with different households must be limited to 10 people or fewer and two-metre distancing must be maintained at all times.
• All indoor recreation facilities must close. Outdoor recreation amenities can be open to public access unless specifically closed by public health order.

With the most recent announcement from the Government of  Alberta, the Eastlink Centre is closing the Fitness Centre for individual workout bookings and group fitness activities in alignment with mandatory public health orders.

GPREP's Community Care Program is concluding on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Since its inception in April 2020, the program fulfilled 97 requests for delivery of essential items such as food and medication to residents in the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, Towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley and the Village of Hythe.

The program was dedicated to helping vulnerable individuals and families – those who were isolated due to COVID-19 and who had no other supports available and were in urgent need of food, medication, and essential goods.

Effective Monday, February 8, the following City of Grande Prairie recreation centres are now open for children’s sport and performance activities for minor sports and school athletics within the parameters set out by the Government of Alberta:

• Revolution Place
• Dave Barr Community Centre
• The Leisure Centre

All activities and bookings are being co-ordinated through individual sports clubs, organizations or schools. Please contact them directly for booking information.

All provincial health regulations remain in effect including:

• All participants must be 18 years old or younger, except coaches or trainers.
• Children and youth will be allowed to participate in limited group activities.
• Lessons, practices and physical conditioning activities are allowed for indoor and outdoor minor sports/activities and school athletics (for example, school sport activities that are outside of a physical education class or related part of the school curriculum).
• Games are not allowed.
• Maximum of 10 total individuals, including all coaches, trainers, and participants.
• Physical distancing must be maintained between participants at all times:
• 3-metres physical distance for indoor activities
• 2-metres physical distance for outdoor activities
• coaches or trainers may enter physical distancing space for brief interactions with participants (for example, to correct form or technique)
• Participants must be masked at all times, except during the training activity. Coaches and trainers must remain masked at all times.
• Access to change rooms is limited, including accelerated arrival and departure, emergencies (for example, first aid) and washroom use.

Effective Monday, February 8, the Community Knowledge Campus is permitting one-on-one training services with certified professionals to resume in the facilities within the parameters set out by the Government of Alberta’s Path Forward: Phase 1. 

Details are as follows:

Fitness Centre & Fieldhouse

• Individuals or members within the same household can book sessions with Eastlink Centre contracted personal trainers.  For a list of trainers please email the Citizen Contact Centre at info@cityofgp.com.
• Coaches and trainers must wear a mask at all times.
• The Eastlink Centre is working with user groups to book spaces for one-on-one sessions.

Aquatics

• The Eastlink Centre is working with user groups and aquatic rehabilitation providers to provide pool space for one-on-one sessions.

School Groups

• School groups are permitted in this phase for activities in alignment with their curriculum.

Coca-Cola Centre

• The Coca-Cola Centre is working with user groups to book ice time for one-on-one sessions.

While this update is still limited in its access, the facility remains committed to serving the community in as many ways as possible within the existing health regulations and continues to prioritize the health and safety of all its users.

Additional recreation facilities in the City will be connecting directly with their user groups regarding one-on-one training availability.

Update #57 | Friday, December 11, 2020 | 2:50 p.m.

Effective Sunday, December 13 the City of Grande Prairie is temporarily closing its recreation and cultural facilities for a minimum of four weeks to comply with the latest provincial health regulations and keep the community safe and healthy.

The facilities affected by this closure include:

• Eastlink Centre
• Coca-Cola Centre
• Dave Barr Community Centre
• Grande Prairie Museum
• Montrose Cultural Centre
• Revolution Place

Gymniks Childcare and LaValley Physiotherapy will be open at the Eastlink Centre with access through the west entrance during operating hours. The Collision Reporting Centre is also remaining open; visitors are asked to call ahead for access via the south entrance.

Private restaurants within these facilities will have the opportunity to remain open for take-out in-line with provincial guidelines.

Eastlink Centre and Coca Cola Centre members with active memberships will have their membership frozen and extended. Full details will be emailed to individual users via their online registration accounts.

Users impacted by cancelled recreation programming will be contacted individually for a refund, credit or online programming option.

On December 8, the Government of Alberta announced the following mandatory measures province-wide for a minimum of four weeks:

Effective December 8:

• All indoor and outdoor social gatherings prohibited
• Masks are mandatory in all indoor public spaces and workplaces.

Effective December 13:

• Working from home is mandatory when physical presence is not required.
• Business, service and places of worship restrictions including:
  • Restaurants, pubs, bars, lounges & cafes open for takeout only
  • Entertainment and indoor recreation facilities closed
  • Personal and wellness services closed
  • Retail at 15% capacity
  • Hotels and motels open with new restrictions
  • Health and professional services open with new restrictions
  • Social, protective or emergency services and shelters open with new restrictions
  • Child care centres open with new restrictions
  • Faith services are limited to 15% capacity.

Current restrictions on child care and K-12 learning remain in effect.

On November 24, the Government of Alberta announced a State of Public Health Emergency with mandatory public health measures.

The new mandatory measures implemented for Grande Prairie are as follows:

• No indoor social gatherings in any setting
• Outdoor gatherings max of 10
• Wedding and funeral services max of 10, no receptions permitted    
• No festivals or events   
• Grades 7-12 at-home learning Nov 30-Jan 11   
• Grades K-6 at-home learning Dec 18-Jan 11     
• Working from home should be considered, where possible
• Places of worship at 1/3 normal attendance      
• Restricted access to some businesses and services starting Nov. 27

City staff are currently assessing impacts to municipal services and will keep the community updated as more information becomes available.

Update #53 | Thursday, November 12, 2020 | 5:40 p.m.

On November 12, the Province of Alberta announced additional public health measures and recommendations for communities under the “enhanced” category. The City of Grande Prairie is under this category and effective immediately the following restrictions apply.

Mandatory Measures

• Ban on indoor group fitness classes and team sport activities (Nov 13-27).
• Ban on group performance activities: singing, dancing and theatre (Nov 13-27).
• Restaurants, bars, lounges and pubs must stop liquor sales by 10 p.m. and close by 11 p.m. - applies to Class A, B or C licences (Nov 13-27).
• 15-person limit on social and family gatherings - indoors and outdoors - where people are mixing and mingling.
• 50-person limit on indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies and funeral services.
• Faith-based gatherings limited to 1/3 capacity at one time.

Voluntary measures

• No social gatherings inside your home or outside of your community. Instead, socialize outdoors or in structured settings, like restaurants or other businesses that are subject to legal limits and take steps to prevent transmission.
• Limit of 3 cohorts: your core household, your school, and one other sport or social cohort. Young children who attend child care can be part of 4 cohorts.
• Wear a mask in all indoor work settings, except when alone in a workspace or an appropriate barrier is in place.
• Employers in office settings should implement measures to reduce the number of employees in the workplace at one time.

City staff are currently assessing impacted recreation services. The Eastlink Centre has cancelled fitness classes for the next two weeks and is beginning to inform participants. Health and Safety measures will be reassessed before classes are reimplemented. Per provincial guidelines, the fitness centre and aquatics areas are available for individual use. Staff are assessing bookings for the next two weeks at all impacted facilities and will inform clients of cancelled or paused bookings.

Today, the Premier and Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health announced a public health order outlining additional measures for the City of Grande Prairie.

Gatherings are now limited to 15 people max.

This applies to all indoor and outdoor social gatherings including but not limited to:

• banquets and award ceremonies
• wedding or funeral receptions
• luncheons or potlucks
• parties: birthday, baby shower, retirement, dinners, backyard BBQs
• other private social gatherings and functions

This does not apply to structured events including but not limited to worship services, seated audience events, funerals, or in-person dining.

Voluntary measures are in place to protect us and to protect our health care system from being overwhelmed. All residents are strongly encouraged to:

• Limit cohorts to no more than three- your core household, your school, and one other sport or social cohort. Young children in child care may have four.
• Wear a mask in all indoor work settings except when alone, able to physically distance, or a barrier is in place.

Grande Prairie, the province has implemented these measures are to help keep us all safe. We ask all residents to follow mandatory and voluntary measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in our community.

The City's Temporary Mandatory Face Covering/Mask Bylaw remains in effect for all indoor locations as a supplementary local measure. We understand there are many opinions on the merit of a face covering/mask and remind all residents to practice compassion and kindness as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.

Update #50| Monday, October 26, 2020 | 4:10 p.m.

The City of Grande Prairie’s Mandatory Face Coverings (Masks) Bylaw C-1426 trigger point has been reached, meaning that face coverings and masks in indoor spaces are now required within the City as of October 26, 2020.

The bylaw is in effect for indoor, enclosed or substantially enclosed public places. It was triggered by a combined total active case number of over 100 within the City and County.

Update #49| Friday, September 11, 2020 | 10:30 a.m.

The City of Grande Prairie recently passed the Temporary Mandatory Face Covering (Mask) Bylaw on September 8, 2020 as an additional measure to keep our community safe and healthy during our ongoing COVID-19 response.

The bylaw identifies a ‘trigger point’ for masking to become mandatory in indoor public areas and public vehicles.

Update #48 | Friday, August 21, 2020 | 4:00 p.m.

Starting September 1, mask wearing is required on all transit buses.

Our goal is to ensure people continue to feel confident and comfortable in the safety of our transit services as ridership increases during the back-to-school season and physical distancing may not be possible on the buses.

Disposable masks will be available upon boarding for riders who do not have their own.

Exemptions for the mask requirement are available for:

• Anyone with an underlying medical condition or disability which inhibits the ability to wear a mask or face covering;
• Persons unable to place or remove a mask or face covering without assistance;
• Children under 5 years of age;
• Employees working behind a physical barrier or within areas designated for employees and not for public access; and
• Police, employees, or first responders in an emergency situation. 

The move is in addition to all of the previously introduced measures on transit in response to COVID-19. It is another measure to protect the health and wellbeing of all transit users and prevent the spread of the pandemic in the community at large.

The City of Grande Prairie thanks all transit users for their understanding and co-operation as we all do our part for the community.

The partnership is phasing-out the PPE4Biz and the Essential Service Resource Program, and has adjusted the model of the Business Ambassador Program.

Eastlink Centre Re-opening Additional Amenities Starting July 27

Eastlink Centre is re-opening the walking track and adult river walking starting on Monday, July 27 as part of their phased re-opening.

Bookings can be completed at eastlinkcentre.ca/book. 

Track Schedule

The track is available during the following hours for booking in 60 minute timeslots:

• Monday – Friday
  • 5:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
  • 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
• Saturday
  • 6:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.

A maximum of 4 people will be permitted to book each timeslot.

The track follows the same guidelines at the gym, with an age restriction of 16+ years.

Adult River Walking Schedule

Adult River Walking is available during the following hours for booking in 60 minute timeslots:

• Monday – Friday
  • 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
• Saturday
  • 9:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

A maximum of 10 people will be permitted to book each timeslot.

The age restriction for Adult River Walking is 18+ years.

All Eastlink Centre users are reminded that change rooms, hot tubs, steam rooms and saunas remain closed at this time.

Starting August 1, 2020 the Eastlink Centre will be closing at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday to better align with trending member usage.

Spray Parks Re-open on Monday, Pavilion and Heritage Discovery Centre Change Hours of Operation

Three City amenities are re-opening on Monday, July 6 and available for public use.

• Spray Parks at Muskoseepi Park and Lion’s Park will operate from 12 to 6:30 p.m.
• Ernie Radourne Pavilion is open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday from 12 to 7 p.m.

The Heritage Discovery Centre has changed their hours of operation to open Tuesday to Sunday from 1-6 p.m.

There is no change to the schedule for the Grande Prairie Museum, the museum is open on Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m.

Transit Passes Available at City Hall and Ernie Radbourne Pavilion Starting June 29

Starting June 29, regular transit passes will be available for purchase at City Hall and the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park as transit services resume.

Passengers who had valid monthly passes as of March 19 will automatically receive a full month added to their pass.

Transit Access Passes, offering a 50% subsidy on the Grande Prairie Transit SUPERPASS to qualifying applicants, will also be available for application at City Hall and the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park. For more information, visit cityofgp.com/tap.

City Hall visitors are asked to use hand sanitizer as they enter facilities, practice physical distancing and stay home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Eastlink Centre, Coca-Cola Centre, Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool Phased Re-opening Starting Mon., July 6

Eastlink Centre:

The Eastlink Centre is starting a phased re-opening on Monday, July 6 with the following measures in place to meet all provincial health and safety regulations.

Hours

The new hours are as follows:

• Monday to Friday
  • 5:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
  • 4:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.
• Saturday
  • 6:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
• Sunday
  • CLOSED

Amenities:

The following amenities are opening during the first phase of the re-opening:

• Fitness Centre
  • 30 people per hour
• Aquatics
  • 24 people per hour with sanitization between bookings
  • 50m and 25m pools only (lane swim and lane walking only)
  • 1 person per lane

Fieldhouse, dryland and aquatics bookings for sports partners are being accommodated in accordance with the restrictions outlined in the Provincial Guidance for Indoor Recreation as cohort bookings permit.

All other amenities and features will be introduced in later phases.

All food service vendors remain closed and look forward to re-opening in the future.

Membership Options:

All existing Eastlink Centre memberships will remain frozen until the facility re-opens to full capacity.

For this phase, a $5 drop-in or $50 monthly pass is available. Passes will be sold until August 15.

Booking Details

All users must pre-book in 1 hour time slots before visiting the facility.

Registration is available at cityofgrandeprairie.perfectmind.com starting June 29.

In preparation for your visit, please:

• Show up only 5 minutes before your registered booking
• Stay within your booked timeslot as cleaning/disinfection is being implemented between each booking slot and you will not be allowed to stay longer than scheduled
• Stay for the entire duration of your booking to help staff manage flow of foot traffic at designated times.
• Come dressed in appropriate gym or aquatic wear and leave all valuables at home as locker rooms will not be available
• Place all of your belongings in your allotted storage bin provided at each visit by guest services and place it in the marked designated area
• Use one piece of equipment at a time in the Fitness Centre (no super sets);  visitors are required to take 1 bottle of sanitizer and 1 cloth to spray equipment before and after use
• Note that floor plans have been revised to accommodate 3 meters between cardio equipment
• Be courteous to fellow patrons and continue to practice physical distancing.
• Face masks are not required for your visit

Coca Cola Centre:

The Coca-Cola Centre is starting a phased re-opening on Monday, July 6 with the following measures in place to meet all provincial health and safety regulations.

Hours:

The Coca-Cola Centre will be open Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m.- 10:00 p.m. and closed on Saturdays and Sundays for bookings only.

Drop-ins and regular programming are not permitted during this re-launch stage.

Bookings:

Ice bookings for sports partners are being accommodated in accordance with the restrictions outlined in the Provincial Guidance for Indoor Recreation as cohort bookings permit.

To book, email ice requests to cocacolacentre@cityofgp.com. Confirmation of booking will be sent within 48 hours (Monday – Friday).

Please note no locker rooms will be available.

Future phases:

Ice programs such as shinny hockey, stick and puck, leisure skate etc.  and concession and catering services to be added at a later date.

Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool

The Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool is starting a phased re-opening on Monday, July 6 with the following measures in place to meet all provincial health and safety regulations.

Bookings and Pricing:

The Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool will be open for bookings during the following hours:

• Monday – Thursday
  • 2:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • 4 x 45 minute rental slots per day for cohorts booking only
  • $100/ booking
  • Maximum of 20 people
• Fri/Sat/Sun
  • 1:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • 4 x 60 minute rental slots per day for cohorts booking only
  • $125/booking
  • Maximum of 20 people

Following provincial guidelines, the pool will only be open for bookings with no public swim available during this stage.

Re-opening Safety Measures:

The following measures are being put in place to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all patrons:

• Daily screening for all staff­ prior to entering the venue
• Pre-screening of participants as part of the online booking process
• Glass barriers at entry to create a safe between staff and customers
• Re-routed access/egress in/out of facilities
• Handwash and sanitizing stations upon entering
• Monitored traffic flow with limited access to corridors
• No change room availability
• Increased venue sanitization between space bookings
• Increased physical distancing protocols
• Increased custodial sanitization in high traffic touch points

Revolution Place Introducing Re-opening Safety Measures:

In preparation for fall announcements, Revolution Place is introducing a variety of re-opening safety measures in accordance with the Alberta Government’s Relaunch Plan so the doors can be re-opened safely for the whole community.

The new safety protocols are being implemented to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of fans, athletes, artists and staff.

Here is an overview of what to expect:

• Re-routed traffic flow throughout the venue.

• Handwash and sanitizing stations.

• No re-entry policy.

• Reduction of physical touch points.

• Increased venue sanitization and cleanliness including box office counters and pin pads.

• Increased physical distancing.

• Reduced capacity of tickets for events available to the public.

• Physical distance friendly POD seating that separates fans with a minimum four-to six-foot buffer between ticketed seats and minimizes the potential for crossover for fans entering and exiting their seats.

• More efficient exit following the event to reduce aisle, hallway and exit congregation.

• Mobile ticketing options.

• Waiving of online fees for ticket purchases.

• Increased options for cashless, contactless concessions, bars and merchandise sales.

• Physical distancing guidelines and monitoring at restroom and concession areas.

• Limiting the number of fans who may enter and occupy restrooms at any time.

• Daily screening for all staff prior to entering the venue.

On Monday, June 22 the Revolution Place Box Office and Dave Barr Community Centre will be re-opening their doors to the public.

The Revolution Place Box Office will be open from Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The Dave Barr Community Centre will be open Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Dryland bookings are being accommodated in accordance with the restrictions outlined in the Provincial Guidance for Indoor Recreation. Transit Fares Re-Instated on Monday, June 29

Effective Monday June 29, transit services is re-instating fare collection for all transit services.

Passengers who had valid monthly passes as of March 19 will automatically receive a full month added to their pass.

Additional safety features are being implemented for transit operators and passengers by way of driver barriers and/or face shields. Boarding will be from the front door and all passengers are asked to leave the bus using the back doors only.

In keeping with provincial guidelines, it is recommended that all passengers wear masks to protect themselves and other passengers.

City of Grande Prairie Taking Phased Approach to Local Re-opening

With Stage 2 of Alberta’s relaunch strategy coming into effect on Friday, June 12, the City of Grande Prairie is continuing to take a phased approach to re-opening.

Stage 2 enables the re-opening of facilities such as the library and select indoor and outdoor recreation facilities while introducing new provincial health and safety regulations that must be met in balance with the current resource restraints brought on by the pandemic.

Throughout our preparations, the City has approached re-opening facilities with an abundance of caution. Planning for Stage 2 openings has been underway, but the early announcement means some preparations remain to be completed. The City will be taking a prudent approach in ensuring that all safety measures are in place, including the rehiring and retraining of staff to ensure safe and enjoyable experiences for all facility visitors.

The City appreciates the community’s enthusiasm for the relaunch strategy, and thanks all residents for their patience and understanding as we all learn together how to adapt to these new regulations over the summer.

The health and safety of the community remains our top priority. The City credits residents for all of their co-operation so far, which successfully kept case numbers low to date, and encourages continued diligence.

City Hall Re-Opening Only for Tax Payments June 8

Starting June 8, City Hall will be partially re-opening to the public for tax payments only.

The following facilities will reopen on Tuesday, June 2:

Hours of operation will be 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. All sites are closed on Mondays.

Several changes have been made to accommodate COVID-19  restrictions:

• Facilities will be set-up with specific entrance and exit doors
• Visitors will be asked to use hand sanitizer as they enter facilities
• There will be markers on the floor to direct foot traffic and to encourage physical distancing
• Hands-on displays and interactive pieces have been removed or put out of service
• Debit/credit card payment is encouraged for gift shop purchases; staff will not be able to provide change for vending machines
• Visitors are asked to stay home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms
• Bathrooms will be open with a reduced number of stalls, urinals and sinks
• Enhanced cleaning protocols will be put in place throughout the buildings

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) is lifting the regional closure of playgrounds on June 1.  

Playground users must always comply with current provincial gathering restrictions and maintain a 2-meter distance between individuals from different homes.  

Residents accessing playgrounds are reminded to:  

• Stay home if you have flu-like symptoms 
• Wear a mask in public places where maintaining 2-meters distance is not possible  
• Carry and use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol content 
• Remind children not to touch their eyes, nose, and mouth 
• Consider using playgrounds close to home 
• Be cautious when using playground equipment and sanitize common touch points 
• Use surrounding green space if playground equipment is occupied

Due to physical distancing and other provincial health requirements, transit buses are experiencing a reduced capacity and are limiting the number of passengers on each bus at a time.

In order to maintain physical distancing requirements, a number of seats on each bus are taped off, limiting ridership to approximately 8-10 riders at one time per bus.

We are encouraging people to use transit for essential purposes only so that we can get the most people to where they need to go.

We apologize for any inconvenience but appreciate riders’ patience and co-operation as we take this measure to protect the health of all of our residents and community while continuing to provide this essential service.

Outdoor Recreation Update

Programs and Bookings: The City of Grande Prairie is cancelling all indoor recreational programs and bookings up to June 30th, 2020. 

Credits will be issued on accounts for all previously paid programs and bookings during this time period.  To view your account, please visit cityofgrandeprairie.perfectmind.com or call 780-830-5000 between 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Refunds will be processed in the coming weeks and cheques will be issued as a result of cancellations. Please make sure current mailing address is updated in your PerfectMind account

Outdoor Events and League Play: Gatherings in outdoor public spaces are limited to 50 people or fewer and members should observe the 2-metre physical distancing requirements. Activities should not include the sharing of common equipment unless you are from the same household. League play is not permitted.

Dog Parks: Dog parks across the City have re-opened to the public with provincial restrictions on physical distancing and gatherings in effect.

Triathlon: The annual Eastlink Centre Triathlon has been cancelled for the 2020 season.

Playgrounds: A  regional co-ordination of playground re-openings  is in its final stages to ensure all provincial health and safety regulations are being met. GPREP will be announcing a playground re-opening plan in the near future.

COVID-19 Property Tax Relief

City Council approved the following measures to provide residents relief on property tax payments during the pandemic:

Payment Deadline Extensions

The following changes have been put into place effective until August 31, 2020:

• Extension of the property tax deadline, for all property owners, to August 31, 2020
• Cancellation of May 1, 2020 and July 1, 2020 tax penalties for outstanding taxes
• Cancellation of late sign-up fees for Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPPs)
• Cancellation of Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) fees
• Cancellation of notice reprint fees

For anyone who is unable to make the August 31 deadline, please contact 780-538-0315 or taxinfo@cityofgp.com to set-up a flexible, no-fee payment plan with a December 31 deadline.

We encourage everyone able to pay on their deadline to continue to do so.

Tax Payment Rebates

A 1.25% rebate on taxes was approved, equivalent to the previously approved tax increase.

The rebate will be automatically calculated and applied on each tax assessment to effectively create a 0% increase.

Flexible Payment Plans

A new section of the GPREP website – Business Relaunch – provides comprehensive and up-to-date information and resources to help support businesses that are re-opening or continuing operations.

Business Relaunch, at www.gprep.ca, offers resources on a range of topics including how to prepare workspaces to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19; proper use of personal protective equipment like masks and gloves; employee screening questions; and resources for financial support. A variety of free communication materials, such as decals and posters promoting safe workspaces, can be downloaded and printed right from the site.

Starting Thursday, April 30, the City of Grande Prairie is hosting weekly virtual coffee meetings with local non-profits to discuss challenges and opportunities related to the pandemic.

The meetings take place every Thursday from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. until May 28.

The City of Grande Prairie recognizes that parks and outdoor recreation spaces are important for health and wellness.

Users are encouraged to follow the provincial guidelines on outdoor activities when using parks, trails and outdoor recreation spaces:

• Do not use if you are exhibiting flu-like symptoms
• Follow public health guidance on personal hygiene prior to visiting recreation spaces
  • Wash hands frequently
  • Refrain from touching your face with unclean hands
  • Carry and use hand sanitizer
• Always maintain proper physical distance of 2-metres from other individuals
• Plan activities with people from your own household or your “cohort family”; gatherings of 15+ people are prohibited
• Plan your activity in advance to ensure physical distancing is possible. If your activity involves a public place:
  • consider going during non-peak hours
  • walk along the sides of trails and other public pathways to maintain distance
  • share the trail and warn other users as you pass
• Avoid contact with frequently touched surfaces or objects
• If you will be within 2 metres of people other than members of your own household, wear a mask in public places to help limit the risk of spread to others

The following outdoor spaces and recreation facilities are open with the above guidelines in place:

• Parks, trails and open green spaces
  • *Conditions permitting. Residents are asked to obey signs, barricades and the direction of local authorities during trail closures.
• Skate parks and the bike skills park
• Tennis courts (limited to single player matches; this also applies to pickleball, badminton and other racquet sports)
• Legion track
• Cricket field
• Ball diamonds and sports fields (play is prohibited for leagues and organized activities/sports)

The following outdoor spaces and recreation facilities are closed:

• Playgrounds and outdoor gyms
• Dog parks
• Basketball courts
• Volleyball and beach volleyball
• Golf courses and disc golf

Please note: all public washrooms in the parks system are closed.

We believe that parks and trails and nature can benefit our community during these challenging times. All residents are encouraged to do their part to use them in a way that respects each other and public health directions. Further closures may occur if physical distancing requirements are not followed.

Update #22 | Wednesday, April 15, 2020 | 9:20 a.m.

All recreational programs and bookings have been cancelled up to May 31st, 2020. 

All outdoor programs and events including park use permits and league play have also been cancelled for the month of May. 

Outdoor recreational facilities intended for group activities, such as ball diamonds and outdoor fields, continue to be closed for team use. Gatherings in outdoor public spaces are limited to groups of 15 people in one location and must observe the 2-metre physical distancing requirements, as per provincial regulations.

GPREP is proud to report that the Community Care Program has made 32 deliveries to date of necessary food and pharmacy supplies to residents unable to leave their homes due to mandatory COVID-19 self-isolation related to travel or due to being a member of a high-risk group.

GPREP is reminding local businesses to abide by the provincial guidelines on essential and non-essential businesses. • The Alberta Government is providing $30 million in FCSS funding to municipalities, charitable and non-profit organizations to provide social services to individuals, seniors, families and other vulnerable Albertans who are isolated or impacted by measures to contain COVID-19. • Today we made the difficult decision to reduce our valued casual and temporary employee workforce by 330 as we have a shortage of work available to satisfy available hours. The decision to provide temporary layoff notices now is an effort, in part, to give employees the option of applying for Provincial and Federal Government assistance programs. The City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie and Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce have launched a joint taskforce to support businesses throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The partners are meeting daily as the situation and business needs rapidly evolve. The co-ordinated regional response is aimed at business and economic recovery and will be introducing new initiatives as needs emerge.

Update #13 | Tuesday, March 24, 2020 | 4:20 p.m.

GPREP is asking all residents returning back to the region, including Snowbirds, to go directly and immediately home without making any stops along the way.

Returning residents are encouraged to use online shopping tools if available or call upon family, friends or neighbours to bring items to you. It is critical to avoid contact with others for the full 14 days and do not go out into the community for any reason. 

Once at home, residents should monitor their health and watch for symptoms, such as cough, fever, fatigue or difficulties breathing. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should complete the AHS online self-assessment tool to determine the next steps, such as undergoing testing.

Community Care Program: Food & Pharmacy

The six partner municipalities of the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) launched the COVID-19 Community Care Program: Food & Pharmacy. The program helps ensure residents of the GPREP service area have continued access to essential items like food and medication.

The program is dedicated to vulnerable residents - those at heightened risk who have no other supports available, and are in urgent need of groceries, medication and essential goods.

Cancellation of Recreational Programming

The City of Grande Prairie is cancelling all recreational programs and bookings at the Eastlink Centre, Muskoseepi Park (Ernie Radbourne Pavillion) and Maude Clifford School to the end of day April 24th, 2020.  This process will start on Monday, March 23rd.

The City of Grande Prairie will be putting credits on accounts for all programs and bookings previously paid for during this time.  Should you wish to view your account, please log in to online registration by visiting cityofgrandeprairie.perfectmind.com or by calling the facility at 780-830-5000 between 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Anyone requiring a refund can request one by contacting 780-830-5000 between 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday and a cheque will be issued.

Non-Essential Staff Working from Home

As a part of our mitigation measures for limiting the spread of COVID-19, it will be mandatory that all non-essential City of Grande Prairie staff work from home Monday, March 23rd- Friday, April 3.

Essential services that remain operational  on-site are those that:

• are required to meet legislative requirements
• support employee and public health, safety and security
• enable critical community services and supports, including COVID-19 mitigation and recovery
• support services necessary to keep essential services operating
• protect and operate vital infrastructure
• fulfil contractual, legal, and financial obligations

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we continue to take steps to support the community during these unprecedented circumstances.

The six partner municipalities of the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) have prohibited access to playground equipment as a precautionary step to prevent the spread of COVID–19.  

This decision supplements announcements from the federal and provincial governments to limit public gatherings, maintain social distancing and increase cleaning and hygiene.

Transit

Transit continues to operate at its regular service level, with free fares for all riders including users of our paratransit service until the end of May.

All existing rider passes will be extended by a month once City operations return to normal service delivery.

The following measures are being put in place to avoid the spread of the pandemic:

• Riders are asked to enter and exit the buses through the rear door only. Customers who require the ramp, such as wheelchair users, can still board using the front door.
• Passengers are asked not to stand near the operators but rather to take a seat on the bus and in doing so sit apart from each other if possible to ensure the health of residents and operators. 
• The first seat on all buses will be unavailable to riders. This is to exercise safe social distancing between operators and riders. This does not impact wheelchair-accessible seating.
• We have increased the frequency of wipe-downs for high contact areas of the bus.
• Riders who are feeling ill, have been tested positive for or suspect being exposed to COVID-19 are asked to refrain from using transit services until their health recovers.

Update #8 | Wednesday, March 18, 2020 | 4:40 p.m.

• With seasonal changes moving to snow melt and potential flooding, residents are being asked to please report issues online using See Clix Fix or emailing citizencontactcentre@cityofgp.com so we can leave our phone lines open as much as possible for COVID-19 related questions. We have adequate staffing levels to address snow melt and potential flooding issues as they arise.
• The Eastlink Centre is extending existing memberships and freezing payments. All membership extensions will reflect the period of time of which the facility is closed. Payments will resume once the facility reopens.  Should you wish to view your account, please login to online registration by visiting cityofgrandeprairie.perfectmind.com or by calling the facility at 780-830-5000 between 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
• The City of Grande Prairie has put credits on accounts for the remainder of the weekend lesson set that has been cancelled for swimming lessons and Child and Youth Programming.  The City has also withdrawn the next week day set and put credits on accounts for the full amount.  The City continues to assess the current situation and will continue to cancel and credit customer accounts as necessary until we have a confirmed restart date for lessons and programming. Anyone requiring a refund can request one by contacting 780-830-5000 between 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday and a cheque will be issued.
