Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed May 19 to 25 as Community Disability Services Professional Appreciation Week in Grande Prairie.
The week honors the crucial role support workers play in making sure every Albertan has the opportunity to live rich, meaningful lives and celebrates the positive impact they make on countless lives.
The City of Grande Prairie recognizes the important work of the Alberta Disability Workers Association for its advocacy in raising awareness among Albertans of this essential workforce.
Delegations
Craig Reid presented to Council regarding the City of Grande Prairie’s participation and membership with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Rhonda Side presented to Council regarding property taxes on multi-family construction.
2025 Policing Services Additional Capital Funds Request
Council amended the 2025 Capital Budget by $1,370,000 as follows:
- $925,000 Records Management System
- $45,000 Tactical Equipment
- $400,000 Network Infrastructure
All amendments are funded via the Futures Expenditures Reserve (from the 2024 year-end surplus).
Q1 2025 Financial Report
Council received the unaudited financial statements and supporting information for the period ending March 31, 2025 for information.
Council directed Administration to bring a report back to the appropriate Standing Committee with comparative financial information from Grande Prairie and other Alberta cities.
Large Multi-Family Development Grant
Council approved amendments to Policy 357 – Development Incentive Grants, with the inclusion of a new 10-year sliding scale rebate for apartment projects which create 125 or more new units.
Alberta Municipal Affairs
The Minister of Municipal Affairs wrote Mayor Clayton confirming the 2025 Local Government Fiscal Framework allocations for Grande Prairie.
