Delegations

The Alberta Products Association presented to Council requesting support for Alberta’s forestry industry. Council moved for the Mayor to write a letter of support for the association.

Large Multi-Family Development Grant

Council approved amendments to Policy 357 Development Incentive Grants Program which included providing a grant equivalent to a portion of the municipal property taxes that would be levied on large multi-family developments for four years from when a building permit has been issued.

2025 Advocacy Priorities

Council approved the 2025 Council Advocacy Priority list, with key priorities which include electricity distribution costs, 911 levy, NWPT support, seniors housing and long-term care and economic corridors.

Council also directed Administration to prepare resolutions for the 2025 Alberta Municipalities Fall Convention for submission before June 30, 2025, for:

  • Dedicated Regional Service Centre Funding, identifying key services provided in regional hubs that benefit the wider region and require additional funding to support sustainable service delivery; and
  • Electricity distribution.

Bylaw C-1464A – Road Closure Bylaw Amendment

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1464A, being an amendment to a Road Closure Bylaw, as presented.

2022 – 2025 Strategic Priorities Progress Update Q4 2024

Council received the Q4 2024 Strategic Priorities Progress Update for information. 

Bylaw C-1395P – Amendment of Fees, Rates & Charges Bylaw

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1395P, being an amendment to the Fees, Rates & Charges Bylaw. The update included the Emergency Response Recovery that was approved to commence in Q2 of 2025. This amendment is to include these recovery costs for the Fire Department service on vehicle fire and motor vehicle collisions. The New Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) was completed in Q4 of 2024. 

Grande Prairie Public Library Annual Report

The Grande Prairie Public Library submitted correspondence about its 2024 annual report which highlighted the amount of card holders, the number of items borrowed and more. Council received the letter for information.

Public Hearing - Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-189

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1260-189, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw to improve clarity and ensure consistency. 

Public Hearing – Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-198

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1260-198, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw. The amendments will introduce small-scale residential opportunities within certain commercial districts by allowing “mixed-use apartment (up to two units)” as discretionary use.
