Reports

Council received the verbal Emergency Management Update report for information. 

Committee Business

Council approved the reallocation of existing capital funds for Nitehawk to operating funds.

Council approved the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships legacy funding to be disbursed to the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta.

Grande Prairie City Council is committed to supporting the City of Grande Prairie’s grant applications for the vegetation management and public education streams under the Forest Resource Improvement Association (FRIAA) FireSmart program.

Council amended the 2024 capital budget as presented in the report, with the removal of Project 2, Maskwoteh Park Signage.

Council voted to rescind Policy 208, the Revolution Place Box Office Advance of Ticket Proceeds.

Council approved amendments to Policy 211, Bonnetts Energy Centre Alcohol Management Guidelines.

Correspondence

Council accepted the Alberta Winter Games Legacy Funding in the amount of $220,000 and allocated this funding to the Climbing Wall Project at the Activity and Reception Centre (ARC).

Public Hearing

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1260-184, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw. The amendments will rezone the subject property from CA Commercial Arterial to DC-35 Direct Control District and provide for the development of a Commercial Site on a site-specific basis. 

A representative of the applicant presented as a delegate stating their commitment to the amendment and proposed project.

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1260-176, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw. The amendments designate Urban Agriculture as a discretionary use in applicable urban land use districts allowing the Development Authority to carefully evaluate factors like operation size, impact on neighbours, infrastructure effects, site history, and environmental considerations before granting approval.
