Following the recent announcement from the Province, the City of Grande Prairie is implementing new measures for a number of City facilities beginning on Monday, September 20th.
These new measures are an additional step in ensuring the health and safety of City staff, customers and the community. They are in addition to the other Provincial health measures such as barriers, mandatory masking, increased sanitization, etc. that have been in place throughout the pandemic.
Starting September 20, the following City facilities will be adopting the Government of Alberta’s Restriction Exemption Program (REP) and will require individuals aged 12 and older, unless within a youth user group, to provide proof of vaccination, a recent negative test result, or documentation of medical exemption:
• Eastlink Centre
• Coca-Cola Centre
• Bonnetts Energy Centre
• Dave Barr Community Centre
During this initial phase of the program, participants should plan to arrive at facilities earlier than normal as staff will be required to review and verify patron’s required documentation.
For a list of what forms of proof are required, visit the Restriction Exemption Program info on alberta.ca/covid.
The City is aware that the AHS system is experiencing a significant backlog and that proof of vaccination will not be available until Sunday. Residents are encouraged to get their paperwork as quick as possible as facilities exercise flexibility over the course of the first week of implementation.
Online Registration
All recreation participants are encouraged to create an online registration account in advance of September 20 if they do not currently have one, including participants who are engaging in drop-in classes, to facilitate easier check-ins upon entry to the facilities participating in the Restriction Exemption Program.
Registering for an online account is free and beginning Monday will allow all account holders the ability to upload relevant documents required by the Restriction Exemption Program that will expedite the check-in process. Once a document has been uploaded to a user’s account and verified by staff, participants will no longer be required to show proof upon each entrance to the facility unless their documentation becomes outdated.
To log-in or sign-up for an online registration account, visit cityofgp.com/register.
COVID-19 is an evolving situation and the City is committed to issuing information as it becomes available and is provided by the Province. The City asks for patience and understanding towards staff as we navigate through these new Provincial measures to do our part for the community.
