With high temperatures continuing throughout the week, the City encourages residents to consider the following tips and safeguards.
Tips for pet-owning residents to keep their furry friends safe from the heat include:
- Make sure your pets have access to clean drinking water at all times.
- Avoid leaving pets outside for extended periods and have access to shady or cool areas of your home.
- Walk your pets early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid burning their paws.
- Never leave pets alone in a parked vehicle.
The City has multiple air-conditioned facilities where residents can take shelter to cool down on hot days. Other safeguards to escape the heat may include visiting movie theatres, coffee shops, malls, restaurants or art galleries.
