About
Councillor Dylan Bressey is a community builder focused on listening and engagement. He believes the most vital job of a Councillor is to connect with residents, understand their concerns, and help build a city that is responsive to their experiences and priorities while respecting their resources.
Dylan Bressey operates from the philosophy that it is the residenets, businesses, and non-profits (not the government) in a community that makes it thrive. But he is alsovery passionate about the role of municipal government to enable strong communities. As Vice President of Alberta Municipalities, he advocates for communities across the province and helps govern services vital to municipalities and non-profits. This provincial work allows him to not just help other communities, but also bring governance best practices and innovative ideas back home to Grande Prairie.
Background & Experience
Councillor Bressey brings over 8 years of Council experience to his role, informed by a "three-sector" career in government, non-profit, and private business. Prior to his election, he spent over a decade as a non-profit director running youth resiliency programs. He is also a small business owner involved in several community-focused ventures.
In addition to Council work, he has been very involved in Alberta Municipalities. This allows him to advocate for communities across the province and learn best practices from across the country. Because Alberta Municipalities provides electricity, employee benefits, and insurance to the City, Councillor Bressey's work with this Board also allows him insure these services are offered at high value prices to the City.
He has also gained significant volunteer experience in the community including founding the Grande Prairie disc golf club, running the Ambassador program for the Alberta Summer and Winter Games, and serving on the United Way Board.
