City Council approved a 15-25% reduction in membership fees for the Eastlink Centre at the March 11 City Council meeting.

The membership fee structure was reviewed and the changes were made to better align the Eastlink Centre membership fees with other comparable facilities and encourage growth in sales and higher retention rates. The following membership fee reductions are being made:

• Family, Adult and Senior Memberships - 15%
• Student Memberships – 20%
• Youth and Child Memberships – 25%

The City of Grande Prairie is gearing up for the second annual Eastlink Centre Triathlon on Sunday, September 9.   

A variety of race options are available for participants of all ability, experience and age levels. This includes the Try-A-Tri, Sprint, Team Sprint and the Kids of Steel Senior/Junior/Youth/Mini options.

Registration fees range from $50-85 with an early bird rate available on select options until August 9. Deadline to register is Monday, September 3 at 11:59 p.m.

Residents are reminded that several temporary closures are taking place at the Eastlink Centre starting on Saturday, August 25 for annual maintenance.

From Saturday, August 25 to Sunday, September 9 the 25 metre pool, lazy river, splash park, FLOW Rider, water slides and water features will be closed. Normal scheduling resumes on Monday, September 10 at 5:30 a.m.

The steam room and sauna will both be closed for maintenance from Monday, August 27 to Wednesday, August 29.

The cycling route for the Eastlink Centre Triathlon Route is changing for the race this year on Sunday, September 9.

Cyclists will now race down 68 Avenue from Knowledge Way to Poplar Drive.

This new route aims to improve the triathlon experience based on feedback from last year's participants. It was developed in conjunction with the Transportation Services department to improve safety along the roads. The new design also makes it easier for racers to exit the pool and continue onto the cycle portion of the triathlon.

The City of Grande Prairie would like to remind residents of upcoming closures at the Eastlink Centre that are taking place to accommodate the annual maintenance schedule.

From Saturday, August 25 to Saturday, September 8 the 25 metre pool will be closed for use. The 50 metre pool will remain open and available during this time.

On Monday, August 27 to Wednesday, August 29 both the steam room and sauna will be closed for maintenance not available for use.
